  • Oh :( I was gonna say if they are really young then they don't know what price means. my son is 1 and I see no point in splurging on him right now since he doesn't know the difference. Do u have family that u can pass along her xmas list to?

  • @Janet_2011 I hope she can too :) Just try to make Xmas special in other ways for them. In the end I think its better for kids to not ONLY correlate Xmas with gifts. As a kid I used to get so excited to just put up the decorations and go on car trips to different neighborhoods to see the lights. Cheer up, it can still be special and fun for you guys! :)
  • My daughter isn't getting very much or expensive things from us, we simply cannot afford it. I would love to get her something big and expensive but it just simply can't be done. Even at 3 they don't remember or know how much you spent.
  • Our kids aren't getting much either and I'm sad little but I'm trying to so my best think of lost order creative things to do with the things that we already have or things that are free. Like at church last night they had Santa u can take picture with I mean they don't give u a picture but u can take your own. It's really hard since neither one of us has job. But he just got one but still doing training therefore no money coming in yet. And plus my step daughter will b getting bunch stuff from her mom so we feel really bad that we cant do the same. But are going to advantage of it and teach her about giving by helping others and maybe help her understand what Christmas is really about. Ur kids are too little to understand that so if I were u do some research on the fun free things going on in the community.
  • Walgreens has 3 toys for under $20 (not just a sale, they are always this price and they get more in around Christmas time). Most of the toys are pretty cute too and rang in age as well. That is what Makenzie will be getting.

Also I think there are charities that help lower income families with christmas gifts. Im not sure if it is only Illinois but I know there is one called United Way and I know the salvation army helps too
  • My son wont be getting much from me and his father we just dont have the money amd i see no point, but my son is only a year old. I think the importance of christmas when their this young is to instill traditions like maybe baking cookies and telling stories. At the young age you could fill a stocking from the dollar tree for under 20$ maybe get some arts and crafts and make ordiments just mske.sure.she jnderstands christmas is not about how many toys you get but the time we get to spend with the ones we love. I hope despite your dislike for the holiday you find yourself getting swept away by the holiday spirit.

My mom always has to say this to me when im getting down "think not of what you don't have and be grateful of what you already have, because there are others who have far less then you. Your situation could always be worse"

    Happy holidays!
