Questions about fertility doctors

edited December 2012 in Trying to conceive
Hubby and I have/had been TTC the last three years, we took a break for awhile because it was causing us some problems. I'm on depo for now (regretting that) but we are wanting to get back to trying soon, we know we need to see a fertility specialist but the question is, what happens there? We are pretty clueless and nervous, the last time I talked to a Dr about TTCing she told me I wouldn't get pregnant because of my weight. Will my being overweight be a problem with a fertility doctor? Any tips, advice and words of wisdom will be appreciated. Thanks ladies!

  • A fertility doc is gonna say your weight is a factor but they'll still work with you. Expect loads of blood tests. Hubby will have to give a sperm sample for analysis. They'll do vaginal ultrasounds to see if you have any obvious problems. Maybe an HSG to make sure your tubes are open. It's a process but its not scary. Hubby and I have been dealing with a specialist for almost a year now. They have been phenomenal so far... I hope your case is easier than mine is!!!
  • I'm sure they will tell u how important healthy weight is when ttc. It also probably depends on how overweight. Like redshadow said tho... They should still work w u. If they aren't very nice about it, find a diff dr. Good luck to u.
