She did it!!!!!

So because I have another lil munkin on the way I've decided its time to potty train my daughter, I def don't want 2 kids in diapers.. so we started two days ago and the first day she peed in the potty twice and pooped once and the second day same thing, 2 pees 1 poop... I'm so proud of her and keep thinking she's too young to understand (16months) and then she goes on the potty! We kindof have to make her sit there and she doesn't like that so I distract her with toys & such...she's still having pee accidents on the floor a couple times a day which is where I get really frustrated but I guess it will just take time ...any pointers?

  • We followed the potty training boot camp book. So were sad (not angry or yelling, but sad) over accidents, and give rewards, praise & hugs for going on the potty. It's worked quite well with our daughter. She still has occasional accidents, but for the most part, she's potty trained. We started around 17 months, & is now almost 18.5 months.
  • Also, we started with going to sit every five minutes, and gradually increased the intervals. Now she stays dry for 3-4 hours.
  • We bought that book, haven't followed if precisely, I feel like she's a lil young for the 10 drills so we modify but were trying! Her accidents seem to be getting closer to the potty so I think shes really trying
  • Just keep moving forward and don't use pull ups, I think they confuse them.
  • We thought that too, so Wed do maybe five, they seemed like they'd be mean, but once we started doing them, she seemed to catch on to the concept better. But yes, it does take time!
  • with my older two, i would pin up a poster board at their eye level in their bedroom and reward them with stickers. they loved it. worked perfect for us.
  • That's awesome!! We figured we would start trying after we got back from vacation in June. I'm not going to try and potty train her while, being at the beach or pool. She will about 17.5 months by then. Both my sister and I were potty trained before we were 2...my brother took a little longer.
