took my son to the the Dr. today he checked out good Dr. said he's just teething and ask me how high was he's temp I said the highest it got was 102. he said that's not considered a fever he said 104. is a fever oops I thought all along he was having a fever he's ears r perfect me and hubby are still sick ugh I hate being sick

Maybe he meant that's not a high enough fever to worry about... I would think it's still considered at least a low grade fever. @ashley_smashley

@wilsomom I go by dr sears...he says temps between 101-103 are not to serious
High is considered 104 or higher

102 is definitely a fever but 104 is when they say you should worry.

But when my son went to the ER he had 103.5. Not saying that's when you should start to freak out but personally I know 103 is when I will start to freak out from now on.

they told me a low grade fever (100-103) for more then three days he should be looked at anyways lol every damn doc is different! Teething is so misrable for the lil ones too .... jax gets very very crabby

We get pediatric calls after hours and parents are like "he has a high fever and idk what to dooooo!!". "What was the temp?".... I've gotten answers as ridiculous as "99.7" deemed as "high" by uninformed parents. But we have to page the dr anyway, sadly. I wish more parents were better informed!!

On the same note, we've had parents calling asking if 105 was too high. Don't call the dr, go in!!

Yeah, i've gone to the hospital with my niece for a 101 or 102 fever and was sent home right away. Her doctor told me that i should only be concerned if there is no change in the temperature after giving her medicine for a whole day or so. Now i know and unless its 103 or higher, i don't take her in.

It also depends on how the child is acting, if they have a fever but are acting completely normal then usually no need to worry, according to the 2 MD's my LO has had.

I think I heard how fast the fever rises is important too, not just how high it gets.
