anyones newborn fail hearing screening??

Our newborn failed the hospital hearing screening which was done at 24 hours after birth. They tried over and over and she failed each time. They said its normal but I'm scared. She inhaled a TON of fluid on the way out and is very gurgly and bubbly still and I'm told that can have some effect on the results because she was not quiet or still. Anyone go through this? She's been hiccuping since birth and is rough 40 hours old. I guess we will be going to get an actual test next week with an audiologist. @homebirthadvocate

    My daughter did not go through this but I will be keeping your lo in my prayers.Hope its nothing serious and goes away naturally.

    My son didn't. But one of my husband's friends went through it with their daughter. She failed the nb hearing test. And then the next couple before they found out that she has sever hearing problems. She is 18 months now, has hearing aids and is thriving beautifully.
    I'm not saying that your lo will be hearing impaired though.

    My son failed his hearing test. They said it was normal but were making me appointments to a hearing specialist and whatnot. Scared me to death. He finally passed his test. I hope your LO is alright. Keeping you in my thoughts

    I'm terrified. She reacts to noise so I know that she can hear something, just not sure how much

    My son failed his, tested again at think 2 weeks old & every thing was fine. Hope its the same for your lo xx

    Our 2nd daughter failed Her's had another one weeks later and has been fine. No issues or problems, she is now 6 and at the top of her class.

    Thank you ladies!! I know there is always a possibility of problems but its comforting to know that others have gone through the same thing and things turned out ok. And again I know she was tested early so that relaxes me some!!

    My daughter didnt pass the 1st one but did the next one. I hope everything is ok.

    My daughter didn't pass with one of them the first time and the second time she passed both ears. And now at almost 15m she has absolutely no problems.

    My cousins twin girls failed their hearing tests when they were newborns and passed the second time

    Yea my son didn't pass his but when we went back he did. They said it was very common.

    You ladies are making me feel so much better. I really hope they check at her newborn appointment tomorrow morning and don't make me wait to see a specialist in a week or two.

    My son failed his also only one ear but at the 2 week re screen he passed! They told me its really normal!

    She passed the abr hearing test with flying colors thank god :-) baby girl can hear!!
