Looking for the perfect car :)

So I'm a newly single mom (for those of you who don't already know.) and I'm new to doing things on my own. I don't have a job yet or money to get a car right now but i want to start my search so i can find the perfect car for my baby girl and myself. I'm looking for a car that is:

1. Safe for my daughter & possibly more kids.
2. 4 Door
3. Good on gas
4. Roomy
5. Not expensive maybe around 8,000 or something I can make payments on.
6. Something that don't break often
7. No pick-up trucks

I'm just looking for suggestions

because I'm clueless lol. Thanks in advance!

I have a Chevy Malibu, my next car will be ford, as much as I love Chevy, ford's get great gas mileage, maybe look into the ford focus? I haven't done much research on cars, sorry I'm not too much help

I have a Chevy Malibu as well, @kimberlh4411. I like it, but it's not very spacious. I also have a Nissan xterra. Now that thing, I LOVE. It's so spacious and does good on gas mileage.

I have Saturn Ion 07 and its ok. I like trucks though, so im probably gonna trade in my car for a truck. Look into a Toyota Corolla, those are nice too. Or a Nissan Sentra. Or a Honda Fit... Those are cars i would look into.

I have a ford escape hybrid and I LOVE it!!!! Very spacious inside bit not too big. It has a great turning radious and fits in compact spots. Also with the hybrid I only fill it up every other week and when I do it only costs $40-45 to fill my tank. I commute from sacramento to Davis 3 days a week so I needed a fuel efficient car and this fits the bill.

I used to have a maxima and loved the gas mileage! We have a dodge durango now and i love the space and for being an suv i get good gas mileage.

I am totally obsessed with the honda crv they are more roomy than my tiny neon without being a bus, they are good on gas despite being an suv, they are hondas so they are great reliable cars and if anything needs to be replaced or fixed they are fairly inexpensive to do. And like you I only have a couple thousand to spend so I can't have a brand new one even though id do anything for one -im looking for a used one maybe a 03 to 05 model I need to find one by june. My boyfriend said we are going to look at car auctions because im having no luck with classifieds or craigslist

I have a Nissan altima and I love it. 4 door, roomy, and good on gas. I can get about 400 (highway) miles out of $45. Mine is a 2009 but my sister bought a year 2000 in like 2008 for about $7,500.

I upgraded to a nissan rouge about 1 yr ago. I love it. Its easy to get the kids in. Holds the groceries and is awesome on gas. I did have a sentra at first but with multiple carseats it was getting cramped
