I am not completely dissatisfied with my doctor, but I am not completely satisfied either. I feel like I am ushered in and out in order to keep their schedule and things sometimes aren't properly explained to me. I'm a first timer so that worries me a little. At my next appointment I am going to ask about their stance on natural birth. ALL NATURAL. No induction. No drugs. I am afraid of having those things pushed on me. If they are pro-drugs,etc, is it too late for me to consider a midwife? I will be 24 weeks by my next appointment.

  • It's not too late, however, even if they are "pro drugs" no one can force you into anything you don't want. But if you really do want to switch, I would do it asap, so you can really get to know the new dr or midwife.
  • I have never delivered with a midwife, but i think you can still switch to one. My step-sister started seeing a doctor when she turned 30 weeks (she's crazy, i have no clue why she waited so long) and they still took her. Im sure a midwife wouldn't have a problem either.... But just to be sure, you can ask homebirthadvocate. She's a midwife and can point you in the right direction.
  • That's how my ob was for my son. I know it was his religion. He didn't talk to me. He talked to my fiance and it was quick. Didn't tell us anything we needed to know. My ob this time around is also my family Dr and she is awesome. She goes through everything with me. She won't be delivering me bc she doesn't do surgeries. Shes a natural type which I love. In my old ob office they had more drs in the practice does yours have that? I changed to another dr but the ob I didn't like delivered my son.
  • It's never too late to switch its up to you after all your paying them. However as earlier stated no matter what your doc believes are you get to do whatever you want with the delivery. Most of the time you will be in the hospital with just nurses caring for you and they can the doc in as your about to push. And the nurses aren't going to push anything on you that you don't want. Or at least not from my experience.

  • Thanks everyone for the advice!!! Yes, my provider has several doctors...not a fan. My doc doesn't do the sonograms either. I have to see another physician for that..is that common practice?? @HomeBirthAdvocate, I would LOVE to pick your brain a little more on this subject. I am dead set against the meds, but people keep discouraging me and saying things like, "You say that now." I just want what I feel is best for myself and my little one.
