Alana's...

edited October 2013 in Pregnant
2nd birthday is coming up next Friday!
I need some advice. She absolutely LOVES the circus and carnivals. So I wanted to make her a carnival themed birthday party. I bought some things for the party like decorations and party favors and such but I need to rent out a clubhouse and get more things for her party.

The problem?
I dont have enough money to continue with the party getting the food and the cake and the clubhouse. Her dad wont help.I can make the food and cake but it still requires money that I dont have. Not to mention many people I call "friends" are fake and probably wont show up.

I would take her to Circus Circus but its October which means they transform the whole casino and Adventuredome into the "frightdome." Its too scary for kids, you got to be 13 to get in. Heck, its too scary for me..
So thats not an option.

Should I just buy her extra presents and take her out to do something special or should I continue trying for the party ? If I do that option we'd have a small party at my parents house just for the family with cake and presents.
I could return the things I got already for the party which would add up to about $50 extra.

Advice please.

  • My advice is, she is 2...a big party doesn't matter. She would be just as happy if you baked her a cake and let her play in it.
  • @ashley_smashley Aww that made me LOL that sounded cute. Thanks for the advice!
  • Yeah, a 2 year old probably doesn't even know what & birthday is yet. Lol Just something small that you can afford should be fine.
  • Yep, I'd do something small with just family. Madison will be 2 next Friday as well :X
We're having her birthday tomorrow with just family (as much as I wanted to invite daycare kids, my mom said they were to young) so next year it is!
  • I'm doing small thing for Scarlett for her second not only cause they still have no idea but I don't see the need to go all out for every birthday and she had party for her first. Plus I'll have newborn. So I think you should just enjoy the day doing fun stuff with family.
  • I would just do something small with family. That's what I'm doing I am taking her and her cousins to an indoor bounce house place then home for pizza and cake. I did a big party for her 1 year so nothing crazy this year.
  • I wouldnt go broke over a 2 yr olds party. She'll have fun with family, getting cake everywhere. You could maybe bundle up and go to a zoo or something! No matter what, I'm sure she'll have a great time cause you'll be going out of your way to make her feel extra loved and special. That's what birthdays are for!
  • I would get a cake and pizza and just have immediate family over and that's it.

Im not even doing a big party for my son when he turns one. Im gonna tell my friend (photographer) to do a smash the cake session and then the next day i'll take him out to have fun. Just daddy, me and him.
  • I would definitely take the decorations back I always buy them and forget to put them up such a waste of money in my opinion I rather feed my guest. My kids don't even get excited for the decorations and not the three other kids that come. Maybe just balloons but they get excited over the cheap ones. No matter what you do for her birthday she will love it as long as you guver her all the attention every little girl loves feeling like a princess
  • I agree with everyone. Take the stuff back and get ur money back. As long as u spend time with her and she is content that's all that matters. My baby turns two today and I'm just gna make dinner, have close fam over and have cake.
  • Thanks everyone :) thats what im going to do. I feel so much better about not making a big party. :)
