28 weeks and getting no sleep :(

edited March 2011 in Third Trimester
It has been so hard for me to sleep these past few days and sleeping on my side is so uncomforable. I hear its bad to sleep on your stomach or back at this point in pregnancy. Do any of you have this issue and know of a way to make it better? I really need more then 3 hours of sleep a night.

  • I've been uncomfortable thru out most of my pregnancy and sorry to say it just gets worse. Try a pregnancy pillow they help with pain and posture at night. Try heat or ice on your back and if you don't have a pregnancy pillow use a pillow to wedge between your legs. Maybe even try taking a benadryl to help. Its safe to take every once in a while. Good luck to you!!
  • I'm 26 weeks and omg I feel your pain, girl! I bought a big c-shaped pregnancy pillow from Baby Depot for cheaper than I saw them online and it helps a lot. Also, if my husband rubs my back before bed, even just for a few minutes, it helps me relax. My dr says I can take Tylenol PM, but I haven't and don't think I will... not really sure about unnecessary pills when pregnant. Oh, and chammomile tea helps me too. I drink a cup in bed sometimes. When you get up for all those nighttime pees, don't turn the light on. I found that to be more disruptive to my sleep. Hope this helps.
  • I'm guilty of taking a Benadryl though. Done that a few times... just make sure not to wait till late to take it.
  • As long as your not taking benadryl 24/7 its safe and will do no harm. Don't feel guilty your going thru a lot for this little bundle of joy and need to help yourself at times too.
  • Thanks everyone I will try all of that stuff not all at once lol I hope some of it works I feels so tired all day and lazy. Thanks for the advise I really needed it!
  • I understand, I'm 27 weeks and I have to move every 10 minutes my if I don't my .hips would start to hurt the pain is horrible try the pregnancy pillow
  • Def dont try back or belly sleepin! Not only is it bad for u and baby, its also quite painful.
  • Warm Bath, Dont eat or drink to soon before bed, I use my body pillow and on bad nights I take Tylenol PM it works awesome and you only need to take half a dose to get your night jump started.... dont feel guilty it will help with being sore and stiff and it will help you sleep, its not unnesscesery if your not sleeping! Sleep is very important and you still have some time to go
  • Yeah I think I am going to just give in to Tylenol PM, cause I am still not getting much sleep. I think its I have had really bad insomnia most of my life and being pregnant only adds to less sleep.
