I love this forum although I'm not preggo, I'm so interested in pregnancy and learning all I can about it. You guys all seem so nice and helpful on here i thought id bring this question to you bc I have no one else .

I'm 18 and have been on orthro tri cyclen Lo since Nov of 2009. I've been with my boyfriend since may of 2009, and the longer I'm on my bc the more emotional and mean I'm getting. I'm wondering what other options I have for different forms of bc that won't effect my hormones. its started to have a negative affect on our relationship and would really like to find something else.

  • Talk to your doctor. Each pill effects people differently. I had to change ould twice before I found one that didn't make me feel crazy! Just be open with your doctor about it and they should be able to help you find something that will work for you!
  • I had an iud and it doesn't effect hormones at all plus it is super easy. Have the doc put it in and forget about it for 5 years :)
  • ya...re-evaluate your pills with ur dr. i was on yaz and i gained weight...then on loestrin24fe and got way emotional and grouchy and high blood pressure.... went off of them to fix it myself and get back to normal and ended up here! Suprise August Baby!

If you change pills be sure to use back up if ur not planning on baby!

Every pill does different stuff for everyone! Don't rely on what it did to others...
  • Thank you guys! This was really helpful, ill definitely talk to my doctor about switching, I don't even feel like myself anymore :(
  • I Was on three different pills. One made me sick. One made me super irregular, the other made me an emotional mess and would give me crazy dizzy spells. I quit them. But I quite having sex till I met my husband too. So we knew there was a chance but were carefull. My co worker had an iud and is now having a hard time getting pregnant..
  • The ring is awesome
  • Definitely agree with @MrsHarber. Before Hubby and I decided to start tryin to get pregnant, I LOVED my iud. Had it for 5 years and it worked beautifully, no worries about pregnancy and no periods either. If I weren't getting my tubes tied after this delivery then I would be getting another iud.
  • @Kmose77, did she try the pill to regulate her period before trying to get pregnant? My Doc removed my iud, and because I hadn't had a period in years, I got on the pill to start having regular periods again. I was on the pill for 6 months and then started trying to get prego, it took us 4 months.
  • I had no problems getting pregnant after I had my iud removed because it expired I would know what days I would ovulate and I would steer clear of my husband those days lol but the first month we has sex when I ovulated we got pregnant :)
