I'm pregnant with twins do I need a perinatologist?

edited March 2011 in Health
Hi, I'm 12 weeks pregnant with twins, I have had 3 early miscarriages and 1 at 16 weeks with twins. My ob does not think I need a specialist but I feel like I do, I'm just so scared and I want to make sure i'm getting all the right testings and check ups to prevent any problems! Any advice??

  • all of my prenatal ultrasounds, as well as my prenatal testing have been done @ a perinatal testing center, after which a perinatologist reviews them with me. I am not high risk, its just been regular procedure with both of my pregnancies. If you believe it is something you need then get it done, if your OB is unwilling, find a new one.

Thank you ladies! You encouraged me to call my dr's office and ask to be referred to a perinatologist, I feel better now knowing I'll be better takin care of.
  • Best wishes. I hope you carry to full term. And congrats :)
  • @leggs2011 thank you so much! Congrats to you too, hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy :)
  • Absolutely. You need to insist on seeing one! I also had twins and carrying multiples makes you high risk, especially with your history. If your OB thinks otherwise...it's time to switch OB's. Babies come first!
  • Thank you :) only 4 weeks(technically baby is 2 weeks) and it being mean. Haha.. but I love 'nemo' already. So extatic.

    Id def get one.

Thanks for your support @lovemyangels. I went and got my 1st trimester u/s today, everything was great and the perinatologist was very helpful, she wants to see me every 3 weeks, I'm really happy about that, hopefully everything will turn out great.@leggs2011 don't worry time will go by so fast, god bless ur lil nemo :)
