measuring 31 weeks and only 29

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Garsh darn.... past 2 weeks they haven't been able to get my blood sugars undercontrol.. today they measured my belly and baby grew fast... 31 and only 29 weeks.. have to wait till 32 weeks for the ultra sound... nervouse and worried... diabetes sucks and what really sucks is its such an epademic that when you say or hear the word it doesn't sound like that big of deal cuz you hear it so often... husband and kids act like its nothing...frustrating how do you get them t understand ther seriousness of the situation... because there's no outward signs of the disease no blood no scars yet... they act like its all in my head..... ughhhh

  • Girl I feel you. I am also 29 weeks and I'm measuring 32 weeks because I have Polyhydramnios (excess amniotic fluid). This tends to happen to women with gestational diabetes because the baby pees more than normal and it causes fluid build up. My doc suspects I have GD but is monitoring me first to see if a diet moderation will help keep my glucose levels down. Maybe that's whats going on, maybe you have excess fluid...or maybe baby is just big. I know my baby is over 3 pounds now because of the possible GD. Good luck at your ultrasound!
  • I hope its just that I was fine controlling it with just diet like you then all of the sudden things went nuts... my sugars shot up my fasting sugars r 130s she said my placenta is making me be imune to my own insulin taking meds and they don't help next step insulin injections and let me tell you I'm freaking out... I can't give myself a shot r u kidding me?! I can barely prick my finger...
  • Really? My doc says they can treat it with a one a day pill, no insulin shots! I don't remember thr name of the pill but I'll take anything over an insulin shot...I have a hard time with the finger stick tok!
  • Just got back from he dr.... so shots and gluboride it is... I sat ther for so long trying to get the nerve to stick myself.... so hard to get past your natural feeling of not inflicting pain on yourself... did it and no pain at all felt like a huge baby... my fasting blood sugars r in the range of 105 to 135 not to bad but I guess around 27 weeks to 35 or so weeks the placenta is producing huge amount of hormones that can cause this to happen and they want the number under 95 so baby doesn't get big and decrease the chances of still birth... whatever it takes I guess huh?? It might make me feel better too:-) hope this goes ok
