:( (vbac vrs c section)

edited March 2011 in Third Trimester
Today's doctors app I was measuring a week ahead.

Here's the thing: in 2008 I had my first child I delivered him naturally he was 9lbs 22 3/4 in. He had shoulder distortion. My second pregnancy I had twins a scheduled c section in 2010 the where born at 38 weeks . Baby was 7.5 & baby b was 5.11. So I'm known for having big babies. In the recent years I haven't lost any weight which put me obesity with this pregnancy. My doctors recommended that I have another c section because I had one not so long ago and also because I'm obesity & known for having bug babies. I would like to try for a vbac. I don't know what I should do. At my next app on the 22nd I have an ultrasound to see how big she actually is.

So should I have a scheduled c section or should u try for a vbac?

  • Oh wow, I can't even imagine giving birth to a 9lb baby naturally! Kudos for that. My son is measuring around 8lbs now and my due date is the 20th. My Dr is concerned about shoulder dystocia as well because of my small frame, so my c-section is scheduled for the 15th. I'm a "better safe than sorry" type of person though. Because of your weight issues, just having one last year, and your history of having bigger babies, I would probably go with a second c-section. You just have to do what u feel is best for u and the health of your little girl. Let us know what u decide, good luck!
  • Yeah I pushed for almost an hour & had to have 3 stitches. When I had my c section last April I didn't like feeling trapped or out of it. & on top of that I had to get staples. Ill probably wait until after my ultrasound & have a discussion with the Dr about my options. Thank you. :)
  • In my opinion, you know your body better than any doctor. I am a huge advocate for all natural births and I believe doctors tell women a lot of things to scare them into doing what they want you to do. I think thar if you feel comfortable with doing a vbac then do it. Your body was created to deliver babies vaginally.
