the good old days literally
When I was growing up my parents, really any adults within our circle, word was law. Didn't matter if u didn't like it or agree, what they said went. If adults we're talking you didn't interrupt. If they said sit u sat, jump u didn't even ask how high, and don't get me started on back talk. The belt wasn't even a factor half the time, her EYE did it. Put the fear of god in me, lol. Now adays I see a lot of parents who would rather be friends with their children and wonder why their " sweet lil angel " doesn't listen. I'm not sayin that u have to beat your child to get respect. I'm just sayin be a parent rather than a friend, in situations where u can't be both. To this day my mother is my best friend, best believe she knows all my friends business, but I'm 23 n if she gives me that stink eye I kno I done messed up, n I better shape up.

I do believe that children should have consequences. And rewards. And they should know that if they're acting a fool you'll find out and make them regret it.
I don't want to be like my dad's dad and belt my babies, though.
