  • Yes that's normal. Lots of OBs don't see their patients before 8 to 10 weeks. Just keep taking your vitamins and look online to find lists of foods and OTC medications not recommended for pregnant women. If you have a lot of pain or more than just a little spotting here and there, give them a call and let them know. Congrats!
  • Yes, thats normal. I am established with an OB/GYN (9 yrs) and I called the day after my positive pregnancy test. I got my first appt at 8 wks, and all we did was bloodwork and questions with the nurse. I don't actually see the OB 'til tomorrow when I'm 11 weeks. Every doc is different and every insurance policy is different. Like @PebblesMommy says, don't be shy about calling the doc office if you have any questions.
  • Ok thanks. That makes me feel better! I-)

No worries, @natandfer1993. :) The only time I got in early to see my OB/GYN for a pregnancy test/check-up was because it was an emergency - the medication I was on would have been harmful for baby, and I had missed my period (which is not uncommon for me being irregular, but I wanted to be VERY sure). Hence I had to get a blood test ASAP - thankfully, bfn for that time. Whew. Otherwise, the normal period is 8 weeks with a normal pregnancy/situation as @BOWsMommy said, so you have nothing to worry about. :)
  • The first time I got pregnant over four years ago, I had a mc. I went in for my first prenatal visit at 8wks, had an u/s and was told the pregnancy wasn't viable. The sac was empty. I got pregnant a year later and was 12wks into the pregnancy before I went for my first doctors visit because I had started a new job and had to wait for my insurance to kick in. I was a nervous wreck and couldnt help but think the worst. My baby was fine and I did all that worrying for nothing. I would definitely make sure you are taking prenatal vitamins and eating as healthy as possible until you can get in for your first visit. Try not to stress yourself out (easier said than done I know). Best wishes!
