anyone going to be a stay at home mom?

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Our baby is due in October and I don't want to go back to work, at least not full time. I'm still in college and trying to get done as soon as humanly possible but its going to be so hard with a new baby and work. I've always wanted to stay at home with my kid until they went to pre-k or kindergarten.

  • I am going to be a stay at home mom. I'll run a day home hopefully after the first year so that I can still have income for the family too, not to mention great socialisation at a young age.
  • Im a stay at home mommy too. I love it.

  • I'm full time work and full time student. I'm due in October and the bd doesn't want me to work After.
  • I soooo wish my bf would let me stay home. I'm not sure if we could get by with only his income though. You girls are lucky to be able to stay home with your babies.
  • @gumbiemommy84 when are you due in October? I'm due the 7th.
  • Im a stay at home mom to a beautiful 14 month old girl and im 27 weeks 2 days pregnant with #2!! I LOVE it!!! :)
  • I'm pregnant with my first and I'm in college. I'm graduating three months before the baby is born. I'm lucky enough to be able to be a stay at home mom. My husband is in the army, and we are able to afford for me to stay home with the baby. And personally, I've always wanted to stay home with my baby because I don't want some daycare to raise my baby. I want to raise and take care of the baby and not miss a thing!
  • I wanna be a stay at home mom too. I'm due September 12th and I'm thinking of going back to school in January of next year. I live with my husband who has a good paying job so I'm able to be there :) baby might have to go to the college's daycare while I'm in class, but if I can work it out with my dad and my hubby, s/he might not have to :)
  • I am a stay at home and have been for 8 years now. I have gotten part time jobs in the evening when my girls turned about 3, but with my husband being in the army me staying home is easier and saves money. We move every 3 years or so, establishing a good job is something I have to give up for his career. But with deployments and everything military, I think it is easier on my kids for me to stay home.
  • Bf has been talking about joining the military, sounds like a lot of you have military hubbies. Does it make things easier?
  • @loveourlittleone In the finance part, it does make it easier, because he will always have a paycheck, the whole family will have healthcare. And I'm able to go to college and be a stay at home mom and not have to worry about finding a job yet. I guess it also depends on how you manage your money. I know some military families who arn't doing so well. You just have to be able to be in check with your finances. But the other part you have to think of is when he is gone. Thankfully, my husband has not been deployed since we've been together. But eventually he will, and you have to deal with him being gone for a year or so.
  • @Cait_SeptemberMommy I know, I honestly don't know how I would handle a year-long deployment. I guess if thousands of other women do it, I can too. I think he's really considering joining, which I'm relieved and scared about at the same time.
  • @loveourlittleone yeah it will be hard but its a sacrifice to the job.
  • @loveourlittleone. I will in sep and im so xcited....
  • I worked full time before my son and had full intentions of going back after my 12 weeks was up but when it cane time I just couldn't do it. I work partime now. My son is with my husband when I am working. I just work around my husband schedule so we are not paying for daycare. I plan to take off 12 weeks with my daughter due in 8 weeks, then go back to just part time. I would love to stay home all the time with them but I have 2 older daughters and one will be going to college in August. Plus I have a very good job and already had to take a step down and pay cut to go part time. I just know that I will not get another job with the flexibility and pay that I have now. I pretty much work whenever and however much I want. Seems irresponsible to give it up. My husband is perfectly capable of caring for the little ones while I work a few hours here and there.
  • I wish I could be a stay at home mom, but we just bought a new house and a new car so we both need to work right now at least until the car is paid off. My mom was a stay at home mom and I loved it she was always there to support us.
  • im a stay at home mum of a 1 n 3yo due in may I love it, we arelow income but we manage love my life
