conflicting due dates!!

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Based on my LMP our baby is due August 21, but back on Jan 4th when I had my first US to confirm my pregnancy, the baby only measured 6 wks at that time instead of 8wks & 2 days like my LMP did, making me due Sept 6. At that time and three wks later we saw the heartbeat in two US, but the US done at 9 wks, I only measured 8wks & 3 days. We have since heard the heartbeat by doppler, and I've done the doppler at work several times (I work in a maternity ward at a hospital), I'm scheduled to have a 3/4d US this Thursday to see the gender, I will only be 15 wks & 2 days by then, based on my first US. I just really want to know what I'm having & by my lmp I would be 17 wks today. Has anyone else had conflicting due dates with such a wide range?

  • Yes and I switched docs because of it! He gave me a due date of June 5th even though I KNEW the exact date of my LMP, and I only had sex once so I know when I got pregnant! Based on LMP, I am due May 23rd. He did an early u/s and said baby measured at about 8 weeks as opposed to 10. Even though at my 20 week u/s, the tech measured baby with a due date of exactly May 23rd (surprise, surprise!). I tried to convince him he was wrong but he treated me as if I was an idiot. I later found out that I tested positive for a bacterial infection, low iron and low magnesium early in in my pregnancy and that he "forgot" to tell me and treat them. After that, I found a new doc and he is amazing! The new doc has found issues with me such as gestational diabetes and Polyhydramnios, which my other doc should've been able to catch but didn't seem to care about. This new doc is a God send, and I suggest looking into a new provider. My new doc moved my due date back to May 23rd and said "Why call an apple an orange if all the proof points to it being an apple?!". He was stunned at the lack of prenatal care I received.

    Good luck!
  • Oh no, there is NO WAY I would switch doctors. I trust this man with my own life let alone my baby's. Him & I have discussed the conflicting dates, I was just curious if any other woman has had this issue now, or in the past, more so looking to see what the final outcome was for ant of them. I know as the baby grows & with future US we will adjust the baby's due date as necessary.
  • Oh well good luck with that. Hopefully your doc is nicer than mine was. I had been going to him for 7 years and felt like there was no greater doctor than him. He started treating me with an attitude like "I've been to medical school, you haven't, so you are clueless". It was so hard to switch, but it just had to be done.

Hopefully your doc will cooperate with your due date. :)
