What the heck. Have you ever seen this? What do you do for it?

  • Try not to touch it. Try not to let them touch it.
  • I don't know if it's ok, but if so maybe put a bandaid over it so s/he doesn't touch it. If you touch it wash your hands right away, if they have siblings don't let them touch it...

I'm sorry you're dealing with that
  • Do not put a bandaid over it. I used i get cold sores when i was younger. I tried putting a bandaid over one before and it spread to the size of the bandaid. Best thing is air.
  • I read up on it and it said herpes and was freaking out. I called the Dr she thinks it's a bacterial infection but if I think it gets worse or I'm worried I'll bring him in and get tested. I don't know anyone with herpes so Idon't how he'd get it. Anyway she just said to put aquafor on it.
@Steph_due_101611 I think it's impossible got me to prevent him from touching. I would have to tie his hands down lol
  • Poor things hopefully it clears up on it's own I would be worried too.
  • Cold sores are herpes :) about 80% of the population have it. It is a different simplex than genital herpes!
  • ^^ mmhmm! Lots have it but never have a break out either.
  • Another reason to not allow ppl to kiss baby on the mouth :( i hope all is well!
  • @captivated I know that's what I read about and was freaking out. But apparently the description I gave the Dr think it's not a coldsore and that it's a bacterial infection. I'm still freaking out tho I think I want to get it tested.

@leviluv8 did u take him in??? My daughter had the same thing that appeared to be a cold sore/ fever blister and it was herpangina it was a nightmare... it was on the outside of her mouth and it was terribly painful for her she was on oral steroids to help... for 2 weeks I was out of work staying with her the Dr said it was the worst pain u could ever imagine.. but if it is a bacterial infection maybe she could give her antibiotics I'm hoping he is doing much better now though!! :)
  • @0811, that is strange! Herpangina is a viral illness. Never treated with antibiotics! Sorry your LO went through that!
  • Oops, sorry, misread your post! Lol
  • @0811
Hubby took him in yesterday, she thinks it's from him opening his mouth to wipe or cut it on a toy. I told him to mention the herpes thing. And he said she kind of laughed and was like no it's not herpes. It just sucks it's hard to get rid of it since it's by his mouth!
  • Yep exactly where hers started in the corner of her mouth and we thought the same thing it took 2-3 days to get larger and get worse as she did..fingers crossed its not what my lo had!!! Maybe use aquaphor on it to keep moisturized. Good luck keep me posted!!
  • @0811 his is getting smaller now. He never showed signs of it bothering him tho so I'm guessing it's not that same as with your lo.
  • Yay great news!!! :)
