Bahama Haven't chated with you in a while and my phone got cut off getting it back on soon though so can't text until it works again. How's everything with you??January 2013
-
I've asked this question to others before but since you specialize in this field. You'll probably be able to help me more accurately. Can I possibly breastfeed and bottle feed at the same time? As in if I needed to leave my baby with someone. Probably pumping breastmilk for when baby is away from me is way better im sure.June 2012
-
Bahamamama4828Yes you sure can! It is best to wait until you both have breastfeeding down but there is no set age to start a bottle. like some say 4-6 weeks introduce a bottle. I waited like 4 months and mine wont take a bottle but were trying the sippy cup. so make sure its not introduced at birth because some babies will develop a nipple preference and not want to nurse. make sense? :)

My diet was the best it had ever been in my life when I was prego with him lol. He had never been on meda nor teething tablets. I actually never even heard of them till this year lol. He got teeth at 10 months and did great with them. Never needed any teething aid. I didn't take any offense to your post. I value your opinionJune 2012

Bahamamama4828oh ok gotcha! sorry I just kept posting about it haha! Was just showing what worked for us :)
-
Summergirl22No need to be sorry! :) I wasn't trying to be defensive, sorry if I came off that way. It's just been my experience that fluoride works and I felt horrible watching my son go through the pain of his teeth being drilled! I totally blame myself and I refuse to allow it to happen again. If your kids can get by without fluoride, great! Why use something when it's not needed. For me, I believe it is needed...unfortunately :/
-
Bahamamama4828oh I totally understand that! I was just curious because another midwife I know who has never used fluoride with her kids either, her oldest had cavities around 2 from a type of teething tablet but once she stopped using them, her son didnt have another cavity after that and he is 8 now.
-
Summergirl22Who would have thought teething tablets can cause cavities lol. My son had the cavities at 2 also. He was breastfed till 2 years, 8 months. One cavity was left untreated for a long time because they could never get the xray for in-between his teeth. That one consisted of a baby root canal and a crown. :( they wanted to give him laughing gas but I refused that! His other ones where just surface ones so no novocaine was administered :)

Hi Lady! I remember reading that one of your babies was born around 30 weeks gestation and I was wondering how old is s/he (I guess boy or girl is my first question)? Have you noticed any developmental delays? My 2.5 yo son was born @ 29/6 and has speech & language comprehension delays (not sure how much can be attributed to prematurity vs. just being a boy). Were/are you involved with an early intervention program? If so,how has your experience with the program been?April 2012
-
Bahamamama4828I just seen this sorry! LOL. Yep! My son was born at 29 6/7 as well! He has been right on track with everything so far until he turned 2-he was born oct 09. he has some speech delays but his comprehension is great, hes really smart. We havent needed any early intervention just starting speech therapy now. my 9 yo was in the same speech therapy class and we had AMAZING RESULTS!

Since you make it well known that your a lactation consultant I have a concern about Breastfeeding. This is my first baby and im not due until July 5th. I'm wondering if you can give me any advice on being able to Breastfeed better. As in producing enough Breast milk and whatnot. I kinda wanna be ahead of myself because I don't want to go through alot of difficulties trying to Breastfeed once the baby is born. I'd appreciate the helpFebruary 2012
-
Bahamamama4828Hi! Some suggestions would be try to have a gentle birth if that makes sense. The way baby is birthed effects bfing like c sections epidurals ect. Nurse right away! Skin to skin as soon as baby is born. Don't let them give baby a bottle/pacifier! Tube or cup feeding is best if there is a complication. Also to keep up supply, nurse on demand. Many cultures have a 99% bfing rate and none have supply issues. Stay hydrated. Eat well. :)
-
MyLove2wouldnt they ask if you want to breastfeed after you give birth?? i can just imagine not wanting to argue with the nurse/doctor about not wanting to have the baby bottle feed, pacifier or anything like that..
-
Bahamamama4828Yes they will ask you. But if baby needed to be separated from you for testing, I would follow or have dad follow, pacifiers are sometimes not good.

Hello! I was wondering if you started to make the Dora outfit?February 2012
-
Bahamamama4828Yes I have. How long do I have? I'm still on the search for the Dora part for the shirt. Actually I got a cami. I'm doing a stretchy waistband so I don't have to guess on waist size :) @usplus2

Hi Her initials is not J.E. She works at night. I've met a ton of nurses from NICU now, and had mom/baby nurses when my little one was born. Such a small worldDecember 2011
-
Bahamamama4828Oh OK! I met a few of the night nurses but don't remember them. I'm close to one day nurse she was most helpful with my son. I almost was going to work in the nicu but its a sad place
-
ciceliaI always tell her she does a job I could never do. But thankfully it seems they have less sad stories than other hospitals often do. I still couldn't do it. She has bad days sometimes, and can't really talk about it, but we know when its been bad. So we just try to tell her we love her and be there for her. She's my best friend, and I am in awe of what she and the rest of them do. Truly amazing to me.
-
ciceliaSo I think I figured out who you know. :) If your on fb you should send me a request :) we can see who else we both know. My email is cicelia618@yahoo.com

Hey there. I have a question about bfing. I stopped a couple months ago because I was not producing and my Lo wouldn't bf anymore. Well with all the crap with formula getting recalled and stuff I want to at least be able to pump. I can still get a little bm out of one side. Do you think if I take fenugreek, mothers milk tea, brewers yeast and blessed thistle and pumped every hour I can get enough supply to feed my Lo straight bm?December 2011
-
iluvladybugsOh yeah I live just south if you in Lebanon...we talked b4 your bil works at the uhaul place just up the road from my house
-
Bahamamama4828yes you sure can! :) you already know what to do and it will take some work but its manageable. just make sure you do lots of skin to skin and put baby to breast. I was just in Lebanon today lol
-
Bahamamama4828and good for you btw! it might take some work to get baby to relatch unless you just want to pump
-
iluvladybugsI am just wanting to pump because I go back to school full time plus have 3 other kids, 2 of which are in after school things. It's just easier for me. But how will it work if I'm not waking up all night? She sleeps all night long. I want this to work and hoping I can dedicate myself to this every hour lol
-
Bahamamama4828Alot of babies are sleeping thru the night at this age and get bm can u get up once inbetween 2am-4am just to get started in the beginning? It will help some
-
iluvladybugsYeah I probably could do that. How long should I get up at that time? How long should I pump at a time and how often?
-
iluvladybugsOk....keep your fingers crossed that ill produce enough for my little porker lol...oh and how much of all the supplements should I take?
-
Bahamamama48283 pills 3 tines a day. Drink the tea as much as u can and sweeten with honey its awful lol
-
-
Another question... Would it be less effective if it was pills & not the drops?December 2011
-
Bahamamama4828im sorry! im horrible at remembering stuff, ill send you the drops asap. the drops are better because you can keep hydrated since you add them too water :)
-
mrsrocketfield1221It's ok if u don't lol don't feel like u should!!! I just only can get the pills here so it's frustrating!! Haha I hope you're well!
