  • You need to call your doctor asap. Bloody stool can be serious, tho it can also just be from too much straining. But you wont know till you talk to your doc.
  • @magcaw I have an appointment at 10 am tomorrow should I wait or just call?
  • I would call your doctor because if there is blood in your stools you could have internal bleeding, or it could possibly be something related to piles but I would get it checked out. Better to be safe then sorry. Hope it is nothing!
  • @SheridanLM1991 I'm freaking out I started cryin and I also tried looking online too see what it could mean but couldn't find anything so I thought I would ask on here so u don't think I should wait till my appointment tomorrow at 10am?
  • I would call right away. They wont be upset with you for calling, and that way they can let you know if they want to see you right away.
  • I doubt it has anything to do with the baby. I'm more worried about you.
  • @magcaw thanks soo much =]
  • Yes they'd much rather you call now incase it is serious and even if it's just reassurance it's better than worrying. The baby is most likely fine, but it's a happy healthy mother too!
  • You guys are great I'm so glad I have people 2 come to for advice
  • It could be that u have a tear call Fisher it happened to me b4 with my first I contacted my doctor to make sure if u had history of ulcer it could b that one ruptured causing the blood as always consult ur doctor if in doubt prayfully nothing wrong
  • I had bloody stools and it ended up to be a GI bleed..baby was taken emergency c-section and I ended up with a 7 unit blood transfusion. I would call asap to be certain. Could be from a hemorrhoid or straining but def get it checked out Good luck hope nothing serious..
  • I know this is much but is it bright red or dark like coffee grounds
  • Its common to have blood in your stool. You probably have hemmroids. Still talk to your doctor tomorrow but that is common in some pregnancies. I have it too
  • If that's the case they will talk to you about stool softeners. :)
  • Well as weird as this is bright red is usually a better sign. You should still contact your doctor but bright red usually means that it's not a gastrointestinal bleed so I would guess maybe hemmroids. Please see or at least call your doc to let them know what's going on.
  • @Elizabeth thanks =] sorry for the weirdness
  • Nope don't worry about it I work in he medical field and ask people some really weird and personal questions I hope yu doc appointment goes welll adif you start to get really dizzy/light headed or pass out or significant increase in bleeding do to the hospital
  • Yes, the brighter the blood, the closer to the outside of your body it is coming from. It still absolutely needs discussed with a doctor, any source of open skin is a potential for infection. Take care of yourself and follow up as soon as you can.
  • You guys are great =] I will let everyone know how it goes tomorrow
  • That happened to me about a week ago. When you're pregnant, you have twice the blood volume in your body than you normally do. The veins in the rectum become engorged (also known as hemorhoids.) If you pass a particularly large stool, it will cause the internal hemorhoid to bleed. This is the most likely cause but I would definitly let your doc know what happened. It will give you peace of mind if nothing else.
