What works with you for stretch marks? (Bio-Oil)

edited March 2011 in Health
I was just wondering, for the ladies here in the forum that deals with stretch marks (light, dark, thin or thick); What works for you?

Another Question: Has anyone here used Bio-Oil? Is it worth it?

  • I've heard Bio oil is good. I might try that. But I'm really looking at mama mio tummy rub and boob tube (lol). And good old cocoa butter and lots of water!
  • I know 4 a fact d avon stretch marks cream work I used it threw my last 4 pregnancys an my stretch marks r faded now this pregnancy i'am usin mothercare stuff it's cheap an has a fantastic scent an is workin 4 me it's cost 4.99 for te cream which i've been usin an there's a oil aswell which costs te same as te cream xxxxxx
  • There's a message oil by Wet that I was using. You can get it in all different scents. It's worked super well for me as well you can get a wonderful message out of it as well! Also what works well is the glycomed (spelling?) hand cream in the puck. As long as you keep things moisturized it will help. However stretch mark may come no matter what.. hope that helps!
  • I got bio-oil to use throughout my pregnncy, and it faded ones I've had for years! After my job starts I'm going to spend a days worth of tips on it lol.
  • I know stretch marks are pretty much inevitable for me but it doesn't hurt to help fade some as much as I can :D

I just bought Bio-Oil and didn't really have time to check up the reviews while I was in the pharmacy; thanks @ashes for your input (:

@Laurasimm85 - Thanks; I'll keep the avon stretch marks cream in mind if the Bio-Silk doesn't work (:
  • @Shmegs ; I'll also keep that in mind :D
  • Ur welcum chick xxx
  • I have the palmer's stretch mark lotion and it seems to be working well for me. But I haven't really started to pop yet :)
  • @Mandiixmayhem - The cocobutter one?
  • Yeah palmer's cocoa butter formula. Massage lotion for stretch marks. I put kt on like 2 or 3 times a day
  • Mederma stretch mark therapy! Works for prevention of future marks. I love it.
  • @kingsmama - I wasn't sure if that'd work, thanks for your input though. I wanted to get that instead of bio oil but it was out of stock.

@mandiixmayhem - Lucky you :/ I've tried and it didn't seem to work much for me.
  • I'm gonna try this thing called Bella B tummy cream it has good reviews I found it on walmart but they also have it at target and I think amazon too
  • Palmers tummy butter is what I'm using, several people have reccomended it to me,its real thick and keeps you super moisturized.
  • Where can you buy the bio-oil from?
  • Vaseline! I love it :)
  • @Nyla2011 - I bought mines from RiteAid Pharmacy.
  • @Anadoll92 - Only Vaseline? I wish my skin worked like that D:
  • Well palmers therapy oil then tummy butter then vasaline with.vitamen e and aloe @LeahsMommy :)
  • I used bio oil my last pregnancy...did not work for me...but works for everyone else I know...i also scratched a lot though...so that's probably why.
  • Palmers therapy oil has gotten rid of my stretch marks from my first pregnancy! I love that stuff I have tried everything else and nothing has even helped including the $200 creams. And Just a heads up I have heard mederma for stretch marks is not safe during pregnancy because of the acid ingredients.
  • @anadoll92 - I got a seperate bottle of vitamin e oil too; just in case and I hope it works.

@Quintana_britney - That's what I'm afraid of :X I stretched a lot also. During my first trimester I've already gotten dark stretch marks on the side of my breasts; I was originally a 34Dcup and I am now wearing a 38Dcup that just barely fits (On my 33rd week).

@second_time_mommy7 - Really?! I wouldn't have thought that, thanks for giving me the heads up (:
  • Save your money on stretch mark creams. Stretch marks are genetic. Some people get them bad & some don't. Any oil/lotion will help with the itching but not make them go away. If you get stretch marks they will eventually heal & fade on their own. Some people's fade more than others. Chances are if your mom or grandmas had them you'll get stuck with them too. It's just a fact of life.
  • Bio oil works really good. Faded some I had already. just have to be persistent when using it
  • I know they're genetic, and I'm well aware that stretch marks cream doesn't always guarantee that they'll make the stretch marks 'POOF' and disappear. Helping them fade a little is better than doing nothing at all.
  • I using bio oil now and I really love it my old stretch marks have faded and I didnt get any new ones :)
  • I absolutely LOVE Bio-Oil! I have horrible stretch marks from my pregnancy with my oldest daughter, this stuff even faded those 11yr later! From numerous surgeries I have awful scarring, it helped heal the incisions as well as fade the scars. I also use Palmers Tummy Butter (I found the lotion for stretch marks is greasy but the butter isn't, odd) so I use both on my belly. I used Mama Bellas Belly Butter, made me feel like a greased oil slick.
  • I will also swear by Bio oil! I was using the Palmer's stretch mark cream during my 1st and 2nd trimester and it seemed to make me itch worse making me look like a Freddy Kruger victim lol. I started using Bio oil and vitamin e cream religiously about a week ago and they're already lightening up :) two of my worse ones have even disappeared!
  • @native_mama24 - In just a week? Wow. I just started today, I hope it works for me, even if it fades only a little bit.
  • @ MrsDelRae - Sounds promising; how long have you been using bio oil? :O
