medicaid question...

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Long story short, I lost my insurance through my job and won't be able to get it back for 90 days. Is income going to be an issue even though I'm pregnant? I just need the insurance part nothing else. I'm a nurse and my fiance works too. Thanks for the responses!!

  • You should still be able to get it just because youre pregnant. I dont think they can turn you down when youre pregnant!
  • um, I'm not sure
you can try I think you can get it as long as your pregnant
  • Every case and state and county is different. Its worth a try!
  • I got it with my last job and I made pretty good money...I still get it with this job too and i make even more but now I have a family to support so I think that has something to do with it
  • Good to know. I really only need it until my work insurance kicks in but I need it soon. I need to go get everything checked out to make sure everything is ok...
  • You can go to your local health department without insurance or medicaid until your medicaid or insurance kicks in.
  • I didn't know that. Thank you @Mimi. I'm in Florida so if anyone knows that system it would be helpful as well.
  • Yep..i dont have medicaid yet I went to get pregnancy confirmed & they sceduled my appt and didnt even ask income or anything..they just gave me a list of what to take with me to get medicaid.
I dont think they can turn you down. The only thing us the wait is little longer because it has alot more patients. But its better waiting 90 days.
  • Other people I've seen talking about said they got theirs in a week or so.. is it really that quick?
  • I'm not sure how it is where you live but they gave me temporary medicaid that started the day I went In to get it .
  • From the panhandle. Here you can go the health dept and sign up for a 30 day Medicaid til you straighten things out with the Medicaid office.
  • Im a nurse and didn't have ins when first found out I was Preg. I applied for medicaid and received it within 5 days no problem.
  • Nice to know. Thank you ladies!!
