Mines is far off, but I am so in love with babyshowers that I would love to hear everyones past parties, upcoming ones, ideas, ways to save money, ways to be creative...ANYTHING! STORIES PLEASE
Is it normal to have a babyshower if your in the UK? lol ive never been to one or heard that anyone is actually having one so im not sure. If so, at how many weeks is it normal to have one?
I would say two weeks before you are due to have one gives you time to sort through and organize what you got and see what you still need and babies can come early. I would say not to spend a lot I usually spend less then 200 because that's money you can be using toward the baby
With my first I had my shower a month an a half early,,, my baby came over 2 weeks eaarly so im glad I did, I was able to find out what I needed to have for the baby an get things put together,, brcause u never know what u get from others an might get nice stuff but nothing u really need, an if u wait to long ull be running around 9months preg tryin to gey stuff,,, im going to do the same this year since im on baby #2 an its been 5 years since my first,,,,,,hope this helps
Wow, I didn't know that about the UK. Interesting things I am learning here in the U.S. its a big traditional type thing I guess...@mrslamaster thanks for the response, that's a good idea to have it a little earlier than just a month before the EDD since the baby decides when it wants to come into the world Did you do anything weird, creative...nontraditonal?? I don't know I just want to hear about some cool unique babyshowers
I planned a baby shower for my cousin. It was in october so I did a pumpkin theme. We made invitations with plaid and pumpkins and said a little pumpkin is on the way, so set aside this special day. And at the shower we decorated with fall leaves and fall flowers and pumpkins with faces and pacifiers. And some things we served were hot apple cider to drink and also made some sandwhiches shaped like pumpkins and leafs and leaf shaped cheese pieces for cheese and crackers.
Well we played baby bingo, made bingo cards with baby things on them ensded of numbers,,so it was like b-car seat n-bottle,,,it was fun and I gave out lil candles as gifts...also u can get on the computer and they have a big list of games an puzzles to do,,,candy bar game is fun also buy mini candy bars different kinds melt them a lil an have people guess what kind it is oh and u put it in a baby diaper to look like baby poo,,, sounds a lil gross but its fun
Those sound awesome!!!!! Awl the pumpkin theme is adorable!!! How fun!!!! @mrslamaster those games sound great too! And btw I've played the babypoo candy diaper one a few times and it is gross but funny lol
Hey. My baby is due on march 9,2011. I'm having a boy. I wanted 2 have 2 baby showers(around the 1st week of feb). One was 4 older folks wit more $ n better gifts lol n the other was for all of my friends who would be cheap but it would b fun. However I asked my mom 2 throw the 1 for older people n she denied me..so now I'm thinking I should just go wit the other 1. The only problem is my friend just had 1 n spent almost $300 n it wasn't worth that much. So does any1 have a suggestion of how 2 have it in a small place like a house n cheap decorations but 2 make it look nice?
We planned a game where you melt different kinds of candy bars in diapers and the guests have to guess what kind of candy is in the diapers by look and smell...it was one of the funnest games we played
@redchrisco that's adorable! for my first shower we did teddy bears. I wasn't into it, bur my mom thought it was sweet. There wasn't much to it. For my second shower (completely unexpected because it was only two years after my first and both were boys) my best friend hijacked my private registry (I made it so I could keep track of what I bought)-she found it, copied it and put it under her own name so people could buy from it. She did a rainshower theme, with black, green, yellow and white balloons, little umbrellas as favors, lots of finger foods, and invites/paper products with a pregnant woman holding an umbrella in the rain. It was adorable. The best "game" that we did was to have each person there write a birthday card for my son, each one to be opened on a birthday. We had crayons, markers, consturction paper, scissors, glue-all sorts of fun stuff. There were 10 of us there, so he will get a birthday card each year until he's 10 with each person's thoughts about him before he was born. Best shower game ever.
Walmart and dollor stores have great things and really cheap, they have really cute banners an ribbins with different theams,,, and u can also buy bags of ballons and blow them up and have laying on the floor or hang them from the ciling to give a touch of color and fun, plus there good for games to see who can find one that matches the size of ur belly based just on looks,,
I was wandering my 1st I had a baby shower and it was a girl, this one is a boy do you get a baby shower since it is a different sex? I have a step son, but I became his mother when he was 6 months so I don't know.

First time I had at a friends house....second time we got private room n a restaurant. I don't think ill have a shower this time...but maybe a party where gifts aren't expected esp if its another boy
As far as ive always known a friend throes the shower for you. I threw one for a friends boy. And friends girl. I made diaper cakes which are fun useful and can cost as little or as much as you want. We had a diaper theme for one. Everyone brings a few or a lot of diapers. And if they want can bring other gifts. We made cup cakes with pink icing for girl then blue ice with sports balls for boy. I made some snack foods then had a few people bring fav dishes. Pot luck style. So didn't cost much.and got most decorations at doller store. They are lots of fun! You can do what ever you want!
My bestfriend/the sister of my child's father & her family threw my babyshower. It was beautiful. Everything was hot pink & zebra print. All my friends came and we had a good time.
My shower is in march and im due in may! I can't wait my theme is monkeys. My lil cousin is making my cake and its going to be so freakin cute! I told her I wanted a monkey and she found a pic of one and I fell in love with it!
@ babymaxisontheway that sounds adorable its so funny cuz the same moment I read this right after my mom mentioned something about monkeys for the babys....but no worries im not going to copy lmfao....I kind of have a diff idea in mind at the moment:)
