scared to death

edited March 2011 in First time moms
I am about 9 weeks pregnant and I am still scared to death. I can't get over the fear of labor and delivery for some reason.

  • Just relax, everything will be ok. Don't listen to other ppl labor stories cuz every labor is different
  • How many have u had?
  • Nevermind just read ur sn lol
  • I was scared too. But when I got to the hospital the nurses were great! I asked them a million questions and they were so nice and answered everything. Explained what was going on and told me when to push and to breath and they made it effortless. I know every birth is different but I don't have a crazy horror story. It was a great experience. Don't be scared.:) you will do great. Were mommies. That makes us tough :)
  • It's only scary because you've never done it. I ended up needing a c-section after 20 hours of hard but ineffective labor (my labor stalled) and I don't consider it a bad experience at all. The nurses and my doctor kept me calm and well informed, and though it was definitely not the most fun thing I've ever done, it wasn't nearly as difficult or as painful as I thought it would be. Plus it was all for a good reason, which makes the whole thing much easier to deal with. Just for comparison, the ulcer I got the following year hurt WAY worse.
  • I was terrified with my first but second time around u kind of know what to expect. You will be OK your instincts will take over and then u will have your baby!!!!
  • I'm 9 weeks 5 days. I decided to stop and enjoy my pregnancy, have to believe in your doctors. They know what they are doing, if you get petrified over that....what is it that you can enjoy. Just chill it'll be fine.
  • Thanks everyone for the advice...I have an anxiety disorder and of course stopped takin my Meds. So that is probably why I am stressing over all of this.
  • Ur not alone ... it's my first time too and I'm 11 weeks ... I also worry about labor and stuff like that... I suggest to just clear your mind when u think about and try not to watch too many episodes of Birth Day
