electric breast pump or manual breast pump?

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Hello mummies, I was wondering from your experience, which breast pump is better to invest in. I have been told by a friend that the manual ones aren't so good but I have no experience on either one. Is the electric one better to invest in? Price is not an issue

  • Yea I used both...electric in my opinion is def better...your hands are free!
  • I think it depends on how much you will need to pump. With my daughter, I worked so a double electric pump was great, I could be done in like 15 minutes. When my son was born I was no longer working and really only needed to pump for some relief when I got engorged or in the mornings when I was full and he only nursed on one side. I used my electric one for a while but it became easier to put the manual attachment when I only needed it for a few minutes. I say if u are going back to work a double electric is the way to go.
  • Electric...double one if you can afford it!
  • Electric... the manual is fine but ur hands will get tired ;-)

  • Both makes a lot of sense... never know when u have to top off on the road... ill check into Medela... thanks ladies
  • Oh brilliant thanks mummies, I think I will go for the electric one. It fits my lifestyle more. They are not cheap but worth it. The thing is what is a good brand to buy, advent, tomme tippe, madela etc?
