headaches?

edited January 2011 in Pregnant
I'm about 5 weeks and I've been getting bad headaches. I got them before I was pregnant and took excedrin but when I found out I stopped and took tylenol instead. Tylenol hasn't been helping at all today and I took one excedrin to take the edge off the pain but once that wore off I didn't know what to do. I know you're not supposed to take execedrin, so any other ideas on what I can take? Thanks ladies.

  • Idk what about a wet rag and lay in bed..i get them all the the time too but i try to tuff them out and not use meds..
  • yea these headaches really do suck
  • Try a little moderate exercise ...roll your neck slowly five times each way, do a little cardio just to get your temp up just enough to stretch, and stretch as much as you can out of your neck, shoulders, and arms.
Drink lots of water and make sure you have enough electrolytes. I drink one small Gatorade then three or four glasses of water. Crackers and a banana with water is good too. (Salts & potassium=electrolytes. )

I get migraines semi-regularly, this is what I do to help them...I've been getting headaches since before I found out for sure that I was preggers. Good luck I know how much they suck :/
  • I have been getting them bad and nothing helps. I have had one for three days now.
  • Talk to your doc. There is more out there than many realize. Almost all of it is prescription only.
Good luck everyone. I'm on 2 weeks straight of a debilitating migraine. 17 weeks. I wish u all well.
  • Although aspirin is not good, from what I understand, it is bad during the last 3 months. I get headaches regularly and took excedrin for them and tylenol doesn't do anything. I realized that it may be the cut off from the caffeine that is giving me headaches. I've weaned myself off excedrin and eat smaller meals throughout the day and drink more water and that helps.
  • Headaches are likely caused by your blood volume increase it jumps quickly. Same weeks every pregnancy I get these headaches. Its aweful I find out that tyenol works 50% of the time but fresh air and rest sometimes on days where I've been very active I never get one! Good luck soon it will be over hang in there!
  • Also sip on a coke soda is not great but the little sips are less caffine than an excedrine.
  • Kyates604 if u tell ur doctor they can prescribe you a pain reliever stronger then tylenol but that is safe for baby.
