39 with my first.

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
So, I'm 39 years old and pregnant with our first. (It's really exciting but I'm definitely a little scared.) Baby is due in November and I'll be well into 40 by then. I'll be almost 60 by the time baby goes to college!!! Oh, boy! Anybody else out there a little nervous because they're older with their first? @-)

  • I'm not but the woman I look up to most,my mommy who just turned 60, had.her first at 31 second at 34 and third at 39... also, the woman who holds the place second to my mom as far as being amazing.. Had her first and only at 40. 40 is truly the new 30, if not 25... Its going to be great!
  • @CeliaAgnes - Cool! Good to know that others are having kids when older and theat they're doing well. I didn't get married until 36. Then I kept changing jobs. Then I lost a job. Then we remodeled the entire house. Then I got a new job. FINALLY, we figured we were ready to get pregnant. I'm definitely excited about our blueberry! ;;)
  • Yeah! Don't even worry about it seriouslu! Havin babies when you're ready is where its at! Im 25 and I often feel embarrassed that I'm too young! My pregnancy was unplanned so maybe that's a part of it... At any rate, more power to you mama!
  • It not my first, but I'm 37 with my 6th. My mom had her last 2 when she was 36 and 40. She is now 73 and going to my ultrasound with me today! You'll be fine, babys just know love, not age!
  • My mom was 34 when I was born (10 years after her last baby) and my dad was 43. Their ages never bothered me, though my dad used to get so mad when people thought I was his granddaughter. My mom looked young so she never had that problem. :) I got a kick out of it! The only thing that I think it influenced for me was that I chose to have my children young (23 with my first), but that was more because my dad was older and in very poor health due to childhood illnesses as opposed to their ages. I think your baby is lucky to have such mature, well established parents. :)
  • Awwwww! You just made me smile @magcaw.
  • I am 39 as well...due in Sept...and very nervous. But so extremely happy to be pregnant! Just trying not to worry so much, which can be hard for me. :)
  • That didn't come out right--it was the combination of his age (68 when I got married) and his poor health, as opposed to his age alone. That's better. Had he been healthy it wouldn't have been a concern.
  • I'm also 39 and due on Sept. 12. This is my third, very excited!!
  • I turn 39 next month and my first is due October 31. Glad I am not alone!
