How do you ladies feel about being around dogs while pregnant?

I have a 10 pound little adorable shitsu, and I wonder sometimes when she gives me kisses is that ok? I mean, I would never want to put my unborn baby at risk. I just think about the germs an animal may have? She's an indoor dog and has all her shots, she's never around other animals so I would assume I'm in thee clean. I'm just curious. What do you ladies think? I will most certainly ask my doctor next visit indeed.

    U should be totally fine. We have 2 dog and i naver had any problems.

    My doc told me dogs are fine. My dog is my first baby and I love her to pieces so I made sure to ask. Cats are the only worry.

    Scientific studies have been known to show that dogs mouths are cleaner than people. (Yeah I'm a total geek). No worries :)

    Lol @casnlesie... so I've heard. This is why I feel as if I'm a-okay. Good, no worries indeed, I'm happy now ;)

    Thank you ladies, I feel great now. She's such a wonderful dog ( well at this point I think she's human sometimes lol she's so loving and good) I wouldn't even know how to feel if I had to give her away. Ugh what a horrible feeling that would be

    I have four dogs and they lick me all the time. I just don't let them near my mouth cuz I just don't want to take the risk

    My dog is my baby. I don't know what id do with out my 75 pound lab/pitt/dalmation. She's my best friend :)

    Its cuz cats are carriers of a lot of diseases. They say at the very least u shouldn't change the litter box.

    Yeah, cats can have a disease called Toxoplasmosis.

    Wow I had no idea about cats. That's pretty crazy- careful cat lovers.

    I read in what to expect when you' re expecting that its fine to have cats because the majority of people are already immune to Toxoplasmosis but you aren't supposed to clean the litter box. I asked my doctor and he confirmed it.

    Cats that consume raw meat, (outdoor cats) may carry toxoplasmosis, so stay away from the kitty litter box. Toxoplasmosis is also found in raw meat which is why you can't have medium well steak..lol
