  • No I was awake for the whole procedure. They never put me out. This will be my third and I'm going to do a VBAC. They don't have to put u out at all.
  • The only time they put you totally out (under general anesthesia) is when A: the epidural or spinal isn't working and they've tried several times to get it in or B: if your baby is in severe distress/your health is in danger. Otherwise, you should be totally awake. Some women do get really sleepy from the meds they're given though. Let your doc know you're sensitive to anesthesia so they can adjust it.
  • With my first I was awake the whole procedure. It wasn't till after that I Was knocked out.
  • @lilbabythree you had two previous c sections
  • I am in my 3 rd baby and they told me that they were gonna knock me out to finish up and so I can get some rest. With both my kids
  • Lol yes. Sorry I meant do they knock u out after baby is out..I know your awake during. ..thanks ladies: 0) trying to prepare hubby
  • No.....I had my first natural birth! M second was a c section. He was 10days late and didn't even drop. Come to find ot he was to big for vaginial birth. So I had emergency c section because when they tried to induce his heart rate dropped. But I was awake the whole time. It is very impersonal. I hated it. So I want to try a vbac. Baby is not to big as of yet and I'm doing pretty good so far as well. We still have 16 weeks left though.
  • I was awake during both of mine from start to finish and Will be with this 1 too...good luck hun xxxxxxxxxxxx
  • I've had two c-sections, the first due to stalled labor and the second scheduled in advance. I wasn't knocked out for either of them, during or after. The only time I've heard of that is if there are major complications.
