@blueberrysmom He does like v8 splash but I'm so limited with meals cuz he is underweight so I just cannot handle him being hungry. He just barely hit 24 lbs & he turned 2 Dec 4th.
  • I needa ask the opposite. How do you make a 2yr old eat anything other than veggies and fruits. My son will not eat any food if its not a fruit or vegetable so his doctor makes me give him Pediasure. What 2yr old you know don't eat McDonald's?

@lil_buggie_3 Yes he does love pasta. I never really thought about the sauce being tomato. Duh
  • I've tried the cheese sauce he licks all the cheese off.

  • @HomeBirthAdvocate My hubby will. But my son has just barely hit the 1% & I will not let him go without eating. & my son is a different child he will go without eating if given the choice. He has always had a problem with eating. He was premature 26 & 2/7 wks 1lb 12.9 oz. We have always had to practically force him to eat.
  • omg @theswift4 your son sounds just like mine, same weight, and his bday is 12/11! he refuses to eat anything but cheese and a few other things! It makes me absolutely crazy. My kid wasn't premature, he's just not interested in eating unless it's something he REALLY likes. He, too, is more than willing to just not eat until there's something in front of him that he likes. I only make one dinner, and I try to get him to eat at least a few bites, but if he refuses I let him go and just give him a decent snack (like peanut butter toast or cheese and crackers). I've tried dips, and occasionally he'll bite the food but he usually just licks the dip off, too. If there's enough dressing I can get him to eat some salad, but veggies have to be raw for him to even consider them. @kcoolzchic my 2 year old won't eat fast food, either. Not even french fries. I thought every small child liked french fries!!
  • With my two older sons I fought much harder. I told them (each on a separate occasion) that they're not getting up until they have at least one bite of whatever the "gross" food is that they're unwilling to eat (all of them have been picky eaters, Simon is just the worst), and both of them threw up on the table. I've since decided that I'm not willing to take the power struggle that far ever again. :(

  • @magcaw its great that he loves healthy food but it can become annoying. I have to make sure he has fresh carrots, etc when we yu somewhere as opposed to grabbing chips as a snack. Then when we out eating I have to try and find things on the menu that he will eat. Ugh I thought every small child lineage fries also but he prefers the sliced apples from McDonald's and he won't even eat the caramel that comes with it oh and he loves the fruit parfait. The only way he eats oatmeal is with fruit cut up in it. Lol
  • Take a pack of frozen mix veg of any sorts and thaw it in the mic till mushy.. then put it in the blender and blend till smooth and saucy then blend with either a jar of spagetti sauce or tomato sauce and herbs and garlic... i do this all the time, just tastes like pasta sauce and you cant tell the herbs from the greans that are blended in hehe... verry tricky but it works. My daughter didnt gain any weight from the time she was 1 till she was 2.5 she actualy lost 2 lbs... freaked me out but the doc said she was perfectly healthy.. Keep on the cheese cubes and kibble (a trail mix without candy , most times hand mixed with dried fruit and small crackers) yogurt is great too. Also when ever you make mac n cheese blend caouliflour til way smooth and mix it in lol. and for added calories for the munchkin add full fat sr cream in mac n cheese, mashed taters and anything creamy... they dont notice it and it adds weight. My daughter is still a skinny mini and we have to do additives lol. she doesnt notice. She hatres to eat anything and its alwase a battle. Introduce vegies over and over and dont give them an alternate meal.. becasue they will manipulate you. And giving them a snack shortly after their "yuky" meal that they like will only encourage them not to eat the yuk and to wait for the yum. In our house our daughter looses her stories if she doesnt finish her food within an hr of dinner time, she doesnt get a snack after.. and if she doesnt eat it at all, she goes to bed hungry and has a good breakfast to make up for it ( she only does this once a month at most becauze she loves her stories lol)... The Nutritionist I visit said this is perfectly healthy for her and she is doing great after a year of doing this.. We still battle, but at least she is growing well lol.
  • @magcaw wow my sons b-day is 12-04-08. & he does exactly like urs wow.
  • @thewswift4 it's incredibly frustrating, but like I said, I'm just not willing to battle with him over dinner. If he really throws a fit (the kind that involves screaming), I make him wait till breakfast (he LOVES breakfast foods) and get away from the table immediately, but usually I don't have to do that. If I hadn't gone through similar situations twice before and pushed my kids further than I was comfortable with, I'd probably try harder. But my older boys eat well now and they were picky and refused everything but fruits and vegetables, so I know it's a phase. And the foods my mom forced me to eat I still hate to this day, lol.
  • Thank u very much I never thought of that @Blueanjel any other tips like the spaghetti would b wonderful.
  • Try stir fry..or get sauce like pesto and white rice w/ some vegetables or a burrito w/ white rice.black beans n veg.
    enchiladas w/ vegs inside.
    fajitas....
My son loves broccoli ..pretends its a tree and he's a dinosaur eating it
  • Another great and easy way to mix in invisable veg is buy babyfood.. its all just pure'd veg..mix into strong flavored food.. like beets or carot pure into ketchup, cauliflower into any cheese sauce, mix veg to sketti sauce or taco meat sauce, be creative and match colors..
Oh and Motz applejuice is now making apple juice with hidden veggies and it looks n tastes like apple juice.. my kid can't taste the difference lol
