Anyone else here treat their pets like part of the family?

Ever since I was little I have always loved animals. My two dogs are like my babies before my baby (in my tummy) lol
I always used to go out of my way to rescue dogs running around on the streets, I hate to think I may drive back down that path to only see them dead in the road. :( My grandma has like 20 little dogs and doesn't even take care of them the way she should, it is really upsetting to me. My BF and I always talk about how we want to take their golden retriever whenever we get our own place, she would be an amazing family dog, I love her so much but I doubt they will let me have her. My BF jokes about stealing her lol He just knows how I am about animals ;)

    I cant bcause I have a nack for killing them accidently so now I just got fish, had them bout 6 months n they still living yay!

    Omg me too lol it breaks my heart seeing a dead pet on the road or even those animal abuse commercials :( my dogs is so gonna be jealous once my baby's here haha

    My dog is like me and my bfs baby! He acts lije a human! I love animals too its horrible dogs dying on the street and with no love :(

    I had 2 dogs that I loved like they were my children. My ex has them now...won't let me have 'em... oh well, its for the best I'm sure. Our old dog was great around babies but I don't think I could trust the jack-russell-terrorist around him/her.

    @lupidarlingg OMG those commercials...i leave the room, i my eyes start watery up and i dont want noone else to see me cuase they already make fun of me enough for being such an animal lover. and I know what you mean, my dog is going to be pissed! lol

    Aww same here, i change it cus the song just makes it worse lol They will never understand our love for innocent animals. Ill still love my dogs no matter what but they wont have my 100% attention once the baby's here

    Yeah that song is the worst lmao I hate it! I have a pawprint on my right wrist for animal rights lol everyone always ask me like a smartass..oh is that your dogs pawprint?!?! Cause I have a long haired daushaund mix..and Im like noooo Ahole! lol

    Awwe, I just had to put my 15 year old miniature collie down on Friday, the day before my due date and what would have been my grandmas 83rd birthday. We rescued him from a so-called breeder that was abusing him when he was a puppy. It has been a rough week! So glad that there are so many animal lovers out there. My other dog is depressed now because they were like best friends and I'm afraid he is really going to freak out when we bring the new baby home. Any suggestions on how to help him adjust?

    I have a hamster that I spoil rotten. He's so cute and chubby! When I want to give him sunflower seeds, I just say, "Nibbler! Mama's got snacks!" After a little coaxing, he comes out and takes the seeds from my hands. So cute!!! Some people don't like hamsters cuz they can be mean, but mine are always my little buddies :3

    I heard that if your husband/bf or someone else the dog is familiar with takes in a blanket that the baby was in, the dog can get used to the scent before you come home.

    My baby hamster died almost a week ago. Had /heher for over a year. Hubby got me he/she when I had a miscarriage last year. It was hard loosing baby crash :(. I still play the father day card hamster got my husband. The hamster dance...

    @bluegrass_mommy I am sorry for your loss :( I can only imagine how hard that is. My little oliver has been with me since I was 17 and I always think of how he wont be around that long and I dread the day he will no longer be alive, but I guess at least he lived a very happy, loving life. He is absolutely my best friend, never had a human love me as much as him.

    @victoriab I had heard that and we are planning on doing it since my dog loves to sleep with blankets. I'm more worried that he will get more depressed since our attention won't be on him all the time. He won't hurt the baby or anything but he just lost his buddy and then we will be gone for a few days when we go to the hospital only to come back with the crying baby that needs our attention. His little world is getting turned upside down.

    @bluegrass_mommy Awl poor guy :( My only other advice would be for you and your hubby to try hard to give him attention while also dealing with the newborn...but I know thats hard. Or maybe if you have a family member who is attached to the dog also can come everyday and play with the dog and stuff?? My mom is really attached to my dog and he loves her just as much, like right now he is with her because I can not keep him where I am staying. So i know if i need help in the future taking care of the baby and the dog then my mom can deff help.

    @bluegrass_mommy***I have been looking up and researching a lot how to adjust the dog that was treated as the family baby once the real baby comes home and they say to have you come home and obviously keep the newborn away from the dog, maybe have dad go off with the baby and you spend a little bit of time with your dog so they can get some love after you being gone at the hospital. Then bring a piece of the babys clothing to let them smell it and slowly let the dog around while your walking around holding the baby, once you feel comfortable enough have your man hold the dog and you hold the baby and let the dog smell the baby. and prob do that for a little bit until you feel super comfortable enough to let the dog roam around again :)

    My dogs n horses are my life obviously my son too but he loves them as much as I do..never in my life have not had at least 2dogs n a horse...I have 6horses and 4dogs 2birds 4chickens 1beta fish Lol nice calm farm life best way for a child to grow up in! Respect, responsibility, love teaches a lot....

    Remember to always spay & neuter your pets. Its better for them & for overpopulation. Check your local area where they have low cost spay & neutering. I took one of my cats in. It was $25 & that included a distemper shot. Otherwise it can cost over $200.

    On the otherhand I could use advice!! I have 1dog 3 cats. 2 of the cats are fixed. The one that isn't is because he's got a heart murmur. I've been to multiple places saying they need to do an EKG & ultrasound on his heart before they do anything. I cannot afford this. The cat hadnt been spraying or meowing at night until last year. He's 3. Now he fights w/ the elder cat, sprays everywhere including on me when I've petted him. He's also meowing & breaks out the house thru a vent. Had to put a paint can on the vent so he can't move it. He also escapes whenever the doors open. He's gone for the day & comes back beat up & dirty. He's the new cat around & the strays don't like him. I put him in a large dog cage for when we aren't home or are sleeping. No1 takes owner surrenders. The cat deserves better than I can give. Should I call anticruelty & say I found a stray. & to come pick him up? Idk what to do anymore. My hub hates the cat spraying all over. ADVICE PLEASE

    @luvbump have you thought of adopting a pet? Its like $100-$125. And the pet is fixed& accessed. They can even match you with the perfect pet matching your lifestyle & personality. Great service!!
