This happening to anyone else.......

edited April 2011 in Pregnant
Okay so I'm not leaking or anything but my nipples are very rough like crusty and when I shower or rub them little pieces come off. I don't know if this is normal it's been like that since about 15 weeks and I'm 26 now may be a prego thing

  • Theres a cream out there for nipples, i think its called penaton or something like that for dry nipples. Ask the drug store
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • They aren't swollen, red or in pain.... It's like little peices of skin @isaiahnjocelynsmommy
  • Tht happens to me...the soap dries out the nipples they have a cream for it but i dont bother with it its normal
  • I have some bad dry skin lately too!! Lotion yourself up. To restore your skin back to baby smooth.
  • Thanks @happymama92

@ebbry89 I really thought it was just me it's actually kinda weird and I could do without it
  • are you sure it's skin and not dried colostrum?
  • I usually use scented lotion from like bath n body works or victorias secret but is that healthy to have on my nipples I wouldnt want it to be embedded in my skin when I breast feed
  • Nope its def not you its just dry skin i pick @ mines lol
  • @magcaw I really don't know because there is never any stains or anything in my bra nor do I leak
  • @mom4the1sttime Yeah, I don't ever have stains either, but I've had this happen to me with all my pregnancies and it's exactly the same as it is a few weeks after my milk is mostly dried up (after delivery). As you get further it will prob start to leak a little more (which is somehow less gross, lol).
  • I read in my baby book to avoid washing your nipples with soap everytime you take a shower.
  • @magcaw oh I guess it would be less gross then dry nipples lol at least I won't be picking stuff off everyday
  • I have the same thing happening to me. Been since 16 wks, am going on 31. Its crusty and sometimes dark. I showed my dr and they said run lanolin on nipples and its normal. That it's colostrum starting
  • @leggs2011 omg that is so impossible lol how do you do that
  • idk.. It just said to not scrub your nips with soap.. Id try the cream too.
  • Thanks I will try that @seifer12211
  • I had dry nips for a while. I switched to Gold Bond body wash for another reason, and I love it, definitely less drying. And I oil and butter up my boobs when I do my tummy. I haven't noticed dryness in a while. As long as I moisturize regularly, it's all good.
  • hope it helps. Thanks for starting this thread, my hubby was like are u the only one, now I can tell him it happens to other women as well
  • @Mom4the1stTime So my doc said to use baby soap on my nipples and I use a lotion of coco butter and lanolin it's called proclaim and I got it at sallies beauty supply for like five bucks and it's huge it's 34 oz I believe and it's soooooooooo soothing good luck ladies I use it after shower all over
  • Thanks everyone for your input I'm glad it's not just me that this happens to. I will try anything to get my soft nipples back
