I bf my son but only managed 8 weeks I'm hoping to do it longer this time. I would like some advice on how to store breast milk though. How long can you refrigerated it and what do you freeze it in and for how long? Any advice please x
@mommy_of_2 no bashing intended but what you said was kind of silly. Breast milk actually helps a baby's brain develop alot better than formula. My son was born @ 28wks and even tho I could not breast feed him I pumped my milk and bottle fed him for about 8months. He was never attached to boob and was still clingy lol and he is smart as heck. He is 3 and his daycare wants to skip him from pre-school straight to kindergarden. There is nothing wrong with formula ofcourse but I think breastmilk benefits them more. Again no bashing ment!!!
@almost4 you can breastfeed him and when you want daddy to feed just pump some into a bottle. My cusin does that with her baby. I think that hole nipple confusion is not true. She just uses the breastflow bottles for first years. They are truly shaped like a boob lol I think those are amazing and I want to use them with this baby so that I can alternate between breast and bottle. You should check them out
@almost4 I think its easier to breastfeed at that time instead a bottle cuz think about it do you really want to get up all groggy and tired at that time to make a bottle? Lol I mean you can have some breastmilk handy in the fridge but you cant keep it in there for more than 3 days. I think the boob is the most convinent thing ever!!! Lol no warming milk rinsing bottles and stuff hehe
This is my 6th baby, I have nursed everyone, even tandem nursed the last 2, so I am going to nurse this one also. I found out with my last one that the longer you breastfeed the lower your risk for breast cancer is!
@mommy_of_2 I am not going to bash, you have the right to do what you want, but I wanted to let you know that my kids 5 so far were all breastfed and none of them are clingy, they are all very independent. Also my 2 years old, has known all her letters and numbers since she was 1 1/2. I do believe breatmilk is healthier, but it is also how you raise them and how much time you spend with them!
Thankyou @homebirthadvocate do u just freeze it in normal tupperware or are there special containers to buy? I'm in UK and don't know if we have location consultants
I'm going to be brest feeding again with my 2nd baby. But head up every one. when u stop breast feeding no one tells u how painfull it really is.. it took me 3 longs weeks to dry up and those 3 weeks its was soooooo painfull ! So just a heads up but I'm not tell u just for you to not breast feed becuz I'm still going to breast feed my 2nd even tho its hurts when u stop but the things that helped it be less painfull was wrapping my breast with ace wrap and alots of ice and when ppl say take a hot shower DON'T DO IT!! It bring the milk in more so its more painfull. Just cuz it feels good for 2mins after trust me after that it hurts 10x more!
@Demarkosmommy dont stop could turkey, wean them off slowly ,by taking away 1 feeding every few days. Of course replace with milk or fomula depending on age of baby. I have never hurt when stopping. I have nursed anywhere from 5 months to 20 months. And if you choose not to nurse or stop cold turkey, putting cabbage leaves in your bra will help with pain and help dry up milk.

I'm definitely bf many people don't agree but I totally think exclusively breast feeding is a way to loose weight quicker and I'm trying to get fine after I drop this man
@ammasmama. I was going to do that but my son wouldnt take a bottle if I was going to keep breast feeding. So my doctor said just cold turkey it. And I tried the cabbage it didn't ever work for me. So I just had to take the pain and deal with it. But with my 2nd baby I will trying weaning him or her off..
Im not.. im really young and my body is verry importand to me at this point, i hav a really low self confidence level and im afraid that it will cause them to be saggy and less full.. and i dont feel that im being selfish since formula is perfectly healthy..
I plan to breastfeed I'm due September 11th with my first. Is there anything I should do to make sure my milk comes in? Or does my body just do it on its own?
@DEMarkosmommy can I ask how long you nursed him? They usually start to wean themselves as they get older, and around 4-5 months you can start giving them a cup, even if it has breastmilk in it. Im sorry you had to go through so much pain, and wish you the best of luck with this one!
