  Hi mike, are you in England? I know that laws are different in different areas of the world. I'm in England-If she will be in prison for the duration of her pregnancy then she will have regular appointments with the Drs and Go to a secure unit to have the child. It really depends 1-what she did 2-the risks she provides to the unborn child ie is she a risk to the baby. I'm pretty sure you and her both would be seen by a social worker. See there are secure units where she can raise the child but you are around so I'm sure given you have secure funds, living , welfare for baby then you could have custody though when she is released IF she was a danger then she wouldn't be able to live with u and child. Basically in a nut shell is she a threat or danger to the child, would she agree to have you as sole carer of child , and even If the social are involved they can help you and it all be in your girlfriends and ur favour

  forgot to add , they do like to put baby with family but though your not married into foster care might be there decision

  Thank you so much. I live in the sates, California to be exact. My main concern is if she will get good care while being there. And what happends if she gives birth while still in prison. Due to the fact that we are not married I'm worried that my baby will go to her mother. And that I would have to go through a long court process to get a paternity test..thank you for taking your time to write. ___Mike

  if she puts you on the birth certificate there wont be any issue with you getting custody if she remains in prison after the baby os born...and her health care should not be a concern for you..they are legally required to make sure that baby is protected...remember that the baby is innocent and will not suffer for whatever she did. hope this eases your mind a bit.

  There are a lot of pregnant women in prison. I can't say what will happen after the baby's born, but while she's there she should be well taken care of. Good luck, I hope it all works out for you.

  I know in australia they can keep the baby in prison with them until the cold is one year old then they give therm to a relative or if there is none they are fostered out, they get all there prenatal care n what not as long as she behaves in prison life should be fine, I know a prison officer in a womans prison it's all up to the prisoners how there life is all the best x

  from fam iv had that have had babies while locked up. baby will get all the care it needs n if u r on the birth certificate then the baby will go to u regardless if ur married or not. I live in cali too. n upon her release dependin on her charges she can share custody. if they think she would b a danger to the baby or not
