I think I'm getting the name I wanted!
Before I met my husband, I knew that if I have a boy, his name is meant to be Achilles. I've always loved Greek mythology and I've read the Iliad about 5 times now.
I was ecstatic to find out that I'm having a boy. When me and hubby started talking about names for a boy, he finally told me that he didn't like Achilles because of the negative connotations of the hero's one weak spot being his heel. Modern literature and culture has given the hero a bad reputation because of his heel. The Achilles Heel of something signifies weakness and therefore (apparently) makes it a bad baby name.
I was so hurt when he told me he didn't like it that I cried that night. I don't give a crap what my family thinks because they didn't help make this baby, but I do care about my husband's feelings. He likes the name Seth which I hate. It reminds me of a gray haired guy with glasses.
Last night I was looking at other Greek baby names and when I went past Achilles (which got a 4 out of 5 star rating I might add) I told him, "I'm so stuck on Achilles. It just feels right." He said, "Well if you really like it then so do I."
YES!!!!!!!!
So I think I'm going to just tell my family that I still don't have a name picked out so I wont have to hear their crap
