really big baby?!

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
I am 36 weeks as of Sunday, and I had an ultrasound Saturday showing the baby at... exactly 7 pounds! I have a c section in 21 days, but how much bigger will she get? Is anyone else measuring large?

  • I'm 28 weeks and almost 4 pounds
  • I'm 25 weeks && baby is 4 pounds
  • at 35 weeks my baby weighed 6'3 and they guessed she would weigh about 8'8 at 40 weeks if that helps!!
  • Oh wow, sounds like you all are in The same boat! This is my second daughter and she was only 5 pounds 13 ounces... and she was 3 weeks overdue! I never thought I'd have a huge baby! My husband was a 10 pounder though!!! Ahhh and its like the most painful thing ever, having my whole tummy taken over.

    Good luck everyone! @angelsmommy when is your due date?

  • @simplyraven22406 he just said "your having a short fat baby" LOL
  • At 37weeks my baby weighs just over 8lb!!!
  • Grr my dr is frustrating. At my 36wk checkup he told he that I was measuring big and for the next appointment I would need an ultrasound..well..he canceled it..saying even if he is big, at 37wks, he can't do anything anyways... :( I just wish I had some sort of an idea of how big he is in there lol

  • @Kphillips June 5th but I'm hoping she comes a little sooner so maybe she won't be that big! Only 13 days left! When are you due?
  • @angelsmommy - I am 36w 2 days, but my u/s said 37 weeks, and so does my lmp... my doctor is basing it off first u/s. Kinda scary since I am 2.5 hours from my hospital, and scared of the risk! Ughhhh

    @heatherlynn- that's so frustrating! My doctor doesn't really do u/s unless its critical either.. even showing 2 weeks overdue w/ the tape measure thing wont change his mind! I was in ER for sinus infection and I had cramps, so they did one...

    And I'll pray for all you other ladies! Its so uncomfortable to have such a big baby! ;-)

    But as long as he/she is healthy, right?!
  • So I had an ultrasound today and now they are saying he's measuring perfect (6.5lbs)....goodness...I dunno what to think haha
  • Hmm my nephew weighed 8lbs at 8 months and was 9.1lbs at birth... I'm not sure how that helps lol but just though id share :)
  • im only 19 weeks so not sure how big baby is measuring yet... but my son was only 8lb 4oz (with a different partner) and my new partner already has 2 kids that weighed in at 9lb 10oz and 10lb 4oz so im terrified my bubs will be huge cos i have poped out soooo much faster this time :(

    My second child measured 9 pounds at my 37 week appt. He was so big they immediately scheduled my csection for later that week. He was actually 10 pounds 11 oz. when born. He looked like a toddler on the bassinet.:) they are assuming #3 will be bigger as well.
  • Baby Sebastian measured 7lbs on the ultrasound at 36 weeks they are estimating him between 9-10 lbs (I have gestational diabetes though) and ultrasounds can be off by several lbs. I wouldn't let it scare you. My personal opinion is that babys that are a healthy weight at birth (8-9 lbs or bigger) are easier to deliver because gravity can work with you. My daughter was 9lb 9 oz and I had a fabulous no drug delivery!!! No tears shorter labor couldn't have asked for better!
  • My daughter was born at 35 weeks exactly and weighed 9lbs 8oz @ 21 3/4 inches long....

    Diabetes for the win! :(
  • @kimman - omg that is huge!
    @heatherlynn - at least its measuring right on! Sounds like a healthy baby!
    @eriskegal - wow that's crazy! Did u end up having a c section?

    I'm actually a little glad my baby will be bigger. My 5 pounder was very healthy, but so small. It was scary sometimes.

    @blissmarie23 - I agree. Anyway for a baby to be natural and drug free is great. I on the otherhand... love the epidural! But I was a c section with my last because I couldn't dilate and her heart was stopping, then she had a bm inside. But I was 3 weeks overdue...

    Thanks everyone for sharing!
