Cribs

So I was planning on getting a convertible crib, either 3-in-1 or 4-in-1. However a friend of mine said that she would not reccommend that because I will want to buy the baby a big boy bed at some point. How do you other pregly's feel about this? I figured this bed could get my boy through his teen years....Is that not realistic?

  • That's what I plan to get. I think they're cool.
  • It turns into a big boy bed. That's the point. What's she talking about?
  • I don't know what she is talking about. I think because she has 3 kids and 2 of them are like a year apart and they have bunk beds, maybe she thinks I am going to be pumping out babies or something....
  • I have loved ours until now. I need to convert it from a toddler bed to a full size and the railings are going to cost $150!!!! Not really digging that part!
  • I agree, if you can get it all in one go for it. I'm pretty sure there will be plenty other things to spend money on for him as a big boy.
  • I turned my daughters crib into a toddlers bed.. and is amazing <3 .. your friend is out of her mind
  • i got the 3 in one.
    crib
    toddler bed
    full bed
we used the crib and the toddler bed. but then when my son got a bit older we bought him a race car bed and now he is in a twin size bed bc the full was too big for his room. but thats ok bc were using the crib for the new baby anyways. i feel we got plenty of use out of the crib and still plan to eventually turn it into a full bed.

I have a convertible crib also, but as my son transitioned to the big boy bed, I got him a queen size just because I was paranoid of him falling off cause he's a roller. Just make sure he has bed rails and you should be fine.
  • I used mine for the crib and the toddler part. I don't think a 5 yo needs a full size bed and her room is small, so we put her in a twin size and then will use the crib for the new baby. It didn't cost any more than a non convertible crib, so I don't feel like I didn't get my money's worth.
  • I have a 3in1 crib but I didn't use it as a toddler bed...my son rolls way too much I had to move him from his crib straight to a twin bed...he sleeps so much better on bigger beds...I will use the crib as a headboard when he's ready for a full six bed but for now I'm using the crib for this baby

I bought the crib last night! I got a 4-in-1. It comes with the rails and everything, which I thought was awesome! Now I just have to figure out where to put them so I don't lose them!
  • How much did you pay for it? I have a decent hand me down ctib, but always had my eye on a convertible

@alilboulding I got it from Wal-Mart.com it has a changing table and shelving unit. I got it for $199.
  • That's great! I can't wait to buy ours.
  • Whoa much cheaper than I expected. Hm. Thx
  • I am so excited to get it! The room will actually start feeling like a nursery!
  • @alilboulding I am at work, otherwise I would post a picture of it. They have a way that you can search for furniture sets under $250. This set is by BSF and I think it is called Cabana. I got it is Cherry, but it comes in Espresso and White I think too.
  • Ok cool. I'll check it out when i get to a pc.
  • the 3or 4 in 1's turn into big boy beds and then into even bigger boy beds! totally worth it! my son is 10months and he is already in his big boy bed and he loves it!
  • I have a 3in1 & had planned on using it at least for a toddler bed. I say planned because I am pregnant again & the new baby with get the crib. But with him/her I plan on using it at least 2 of not all 3 of the conversions!
