Yep, I'll just translating the names... I believe edna is ekena and his grandfathers name (alton) is alekona? Or like that, I just don't have them directly in front of me. Lol but I loved the names translated... but i LOVE your idea as well. It's so meaningful... if I was having more than 1 (I pray for at least 1) I'd do that... but u know its most likely gonna be a one time chance for me to honor my grandmother
@tricesbaby lol so ur still not sure...i think if u tell them u don't wanna know and u watch u will be able to figure it out Those names are nice they sound less like mariah...once we figure out the hawaiian name I'll be able to see what sounds best
I know.... as soon as I heard them, I was in love! Id use them for the first name but we already have some picked out... if I gave a second boy I may just use that as his first though
Totally just realized I never said where he lived! Yes, it was Oahu. He was a military brat and lived right near the moanalua golf course. He still has an "aunt" that lives there and we wanted to visit on our honeymoon but only were there fir a week and just didn't have the time... some day we'll visit where get grew up! But it was amazing to go there bc it brought back all his childhood memories of tastes and smells and just things you don't see out here! It was amazing...
@hopingboyy those names are pretty too. my friend has a daughter named jazzlyn and i thought about gizelle too. my sons name is zaiden and my daughter is charleze..and maybe hazel lol still not 100%
@TricesBaby that would be awesome if u could actually wait till birth to find out. i personally wouldn't be able to...but i know what u mean, it would be so amazing to find out that way. just being surprised like that u n ur hubby will be so happy boy or girl...but how are u gonna prepare for baby? are u gonna buy neutral colors or just buy a few things then go shopping after baby is born?
I like hazel skye!!! And if you need help with the hawaiian name I can help u there... I'm half hawaiian and am fluent... I too am having difficulty naming my little girl... The part that sucks is that I'm due in 2 weeks
@jalem oh really..where u from? My bf is also half...his mom has a name for us but I don't want or like it..its too long lol. I have no idea on what I want the name to mean. I want it to sound nice n my bf is like that's not how u pick a name. I need help because I wanna be the one to choose! Lol how do I start?
@jalem and ur due in 2 weeks n still figuring it out? That will be me. With my daughter I was in the hospital still trying to figure it out lol goodluck with finding a name
I am from maui but live in kapolei on oahu right now... And hawaiian culture the grandparents pull a lot of weight in naming... Lolz or did.. and long names are common... Mine is kamanani-o-ka-po-ele'ele (beautiful child of the dark) my sisters is makanalani o ke kai(heavenly gift of the ocean) and that is just our middle names
Well you can start by finding a meaning... If you don't like the sound of the hawaiian u can adjust the meaning... But I would start simple... A lot of people go crazy and end up having paragraphs for names... Its really hard to find a name just by sound because the meaning could be horrible... So id say find a meaning have it translated and go from there
Awesome!!! Lolz that makes a total of three from here... Lolz... I've decided against a hawaiian name for my lil girl... Mostly cuz I'm tempted to give her a story name lol
