Puppys?

What breed of dog do you have and what's it like? I want a puppy but I'm not familiar with breeds of dogs and how they behave. So any knowledge about them is appreciated. So far Im thinking about a pomeranian....

  • Best dog we ever had when my nephew was an infant was a beagle. She was a rescue and the sweetest day we ever had.
  • I bought what I thought was a husky puppy about 3 years ago and found out as she got older she is a wolf hybrid... I don't recommend a husky or a wolf hybrid because although she's my baby and I love her and she's great with my family she is so protective I have to put her out in her kennel anytime I have anyone over because she will attack anyone who gets close to me or my family. Plus she sheds so much its crazy.
  • dog* . Almost any dog will be a good dog if you have-it from a puppy and train it right.
  • @LMelanson I love pomeranians too! I have a mini pom. She's chocolate and named chloe bear<3 she weighs 5 pounds and is a great dog!
  • I have two german shepherds. They are the best dogs I have ever had. Protective yet loving.

  • What is your lifestyle like? Do u have money to take your dog to groomer every 6-9weeks? Are you active walks every day? Or just now and then? What state? Is it muddy dusty? Do u mind dog hairy flying around sometimes? Vet? In emergency can u or will u contact a vet? (reason is will say what breed is best suited sturdy wise) potty training is really hard while pregnant just because of our hormone levels pacitents n tiredness...do u have a fenced yard an appartment....do u mind barking.....anything else u can add will help.....I can throw u a couple breeds when u answer.....Lol do u really wanna get one while pregnant? I have 4dogs n I'm a groomer I have so many pregnant women come in who hate their dogs after a few months....just a thought
  • @marie0907 no offense but I hate german shepherds. I was attacked by 2 as a kid on my bike and then again when I went to my friends house. She had 3 of them and they were aggressive. I would walk past them and they would snap at everyone. But I guess if they are raised around kids and know to be gentle they can be really nice but they make me so nervous now!

  • There is a pomeranian that lives across the street and it is crazy it never shuts up and is hyper. Just my experience with them. We always had golden retrivers growing up and they were gently an easy when my sister was an infant he would lay next to her crib and loved to let her crawl all over him. I think it also depends on the time and effort you put into training your dog.
  • I think Pomeranians are generally yippy little dogs but every single one I've met has been rather friendly so I think they're a cool breed. Of course, I'd recommend a mi-ki but I'm biased. Lol!

  • @kara_lamek, I can understand that. Anyone attacked by any breed would be leary of that later. I got bit by a husky when I was younger so I am always a little standoffish of them at first. However since then I have met lots of nice huskies.
Bottom line, any dog, any breed can be aggressive. They need to be raised right.

  • @azmom =D> great questions because we can all talk about how great one breed is for US but it may not be a good fit for her
  • I have a cattle dog, also known as heelers. She is super sweet and easy to train. Good off leash dogs and very family orientated. They protect whats theirs, whether its people, toys or beds lol Also they don't get very large, my girl is knee height and 35 pounds on a REALLY good day lol I couldn't praise the breed enough. If anything mutts are typically pretty awesome too, just depends on what you want really
  • @marie0907 I agree completey. Even my pom makes people nervous cuz they have a reputation for being mean. But she's not an people realize that after playing with her.

@mommy2now3 my pom hardly barks. Some are very yappy but she's pretty mellow. If she barked all the time id go crazy! Haha
  • i have a st bernard and she is HUGE my son likes to ride her like a pony haha she was a huge puppy and her slobber is nasty shes so sweet and really really good with kids but shes really big idk what kind of dog your looking for but i doubt its a st bernard
  • I have a pit boxer mix she's a rescue she is super hyper and a little crazy. She is great with people dogs cats kids you name it she's great. I have a boy he is a pure bred staffy rescue he is great with kids but unsure with other male dogs or male humans lol. Both can run jump and play for hours go pm a 2 hour walk come home and want to play though
  • Idk how to put a pic lol
  • @kara_lamek I'm calling you out! Stuffed dog! Lmao! Really cute. :p
  • @blueberrysmom she really does look fake sometimes lol but I promise she's real!
  • I have toy poodles they are really good dogs and are great with kids very loveable and they know when there is something wrong and will stick with you for like 18 years if they are well taken care of... Our oldest is 14 and still plays fetch...
  • I have 2 pitbulls. One i just got a few weeks ago who is 10 weeks old that i absolutely adore. He is just like a baby and never leaves my side and is potty training but a lil slower than id like. Also a 2 yr old female red nose who is great with kids. Neither bark and netiher are very protective cuz they are just so friendly and want attention. Pits have a bad wrap. But i wouldnt trade mine for the world. Its not the animal its how they were raised.
  • English bulldog absolutly great wit children
