VERY UPSET! (Glucose Testing...)

So yesterday i left wrk early bcuz i had my regular 4 wk checkup apt at 3pm... So after sitting for abt 15 mins the nurse took me back & did the regular things bp, weighed me, checked my urine etc... so as i went into the rm to get ready for my DR my nurse says well y havent u been to take ur glucose test... i said becuse i didnt realize u guys put the order in... so she says while im waiting for my DR i sud run & go drink the stuff... so INSTANTLY i think of some of u ladies & say to my nurse well can i take it another day in the am ive been eating all day... she says dont worry abt it its not the one for fasting... ull do fine... BS I SUD HAVE LISTENED TO MY FIRST INSTINCT & WAITIED! I FAILED! :(

SOOOO a nurse called me this afternoon to say well now u have to go on a strict 3 day diet & fast 12hrs b4 the 3hr test or imma hav to show u how to stick urself 4 times a day... like really? She said it like she jus KNEW i was gonna fail the 3hr test... im soo upset! Im so scared of failing it...Y dont they test for this mess earlier! Please ladies any advice? Im so upset im in tears :(

    most people who fail the one hour and pass the 3 hour. that nurse is rude. you should complain.

    most women manage it with diet and dont need insulin. She is seriously just really rude. When you pass the three hour tell her she cal take her needles and prick her damn self.

    I have mine tomorrow morning so fasting for 12 hours. Not lookin forward to it :(

    She was right...you dont have to fast so im not sure that you failed because of that. But...she was very rude! That was a bitchy way for her to talk to you!

    oh forget that. i would complain and say "well im retaking the one hour test. there is a reason we are TOLD about the test. so we don't eat sugar and carbs all day." i would refuse and only take the 1 hr test.

    U dont fast before u drink the drink u fast after dtinkin it...how come u didnt refuse to take it? Its their fault

    I would complain about how rude she was! I had to remind my dr about mine, but she also told me not to worry about fasting.

    No diet luckily! I live in the UK and they send you if your bmi is higher than a certain number so just get sent straight for the big test. Hope not too many needles! Eek good luck to you too x

    My test is at 9am and not allowed to eat or drink apart from sips of water from 9 tonight x

    @Fashion_Junky91 i did fast after i drank the drink for the 1 hr... the 3hr is the fasting one but alot of ppl i kno & ive even seen it on here have said for the 1 hr one dont eat after 7 & go early in the am... its better & helps u to pass the 1 hr one... i told my nurse i didnt want to but she just kept reassuring me that i would do wonderful! LIAR! :(

    I just had to take my 3 hour Tuesday. You can drink water just don't eat after midnight is what my doctor told me. I passed my 3 hour one. Just make sure you take something to do. I had my phone and magaiznes but I wish I had something else to do. They will also tell you that you can drink water while you wait.

    That sucks so bad! They are supposed to give you a heads up well ahead of time. My doctor gave me the drink to take home with typed out instructions so all I had to do was show up, say I needed the test and then they drew my blood.

    I just didn't eat anything after midnight. You still need to drink water otherwise they my have a hard time finding your vains( spelling sorry).

    I took my 1 hr test after having had a sugary bowl of cereal (like, kix with about 1/8th of a cup of sugar added to it cuz that cereal is nasty. lol).... and my glucose came back normal? :/ I was considered at risk for it because my grandmother's got Diabetes and I have had bloodsugar crashes in the past. But I got lucky, I guess.

    I would, however, complain about the nurse. That was incredibly rude!

    That's messed up :( how would you pass eating tons of stuff? She probably didn't feel like rescheduling it. She sounded lazy.

    @FiRstTiMeOcT_mOm I would say something to your doctor. You may be going through all these hoops for no reason because of her team's error. That just stinks.

    yea my nurse told me (even though I knew from my other two kids) that i should eat some toast, or no sugar before the test. and my appts are always in the morning. so she knew better.

    @excitedforbaby EXACTLY! I ate more than normal yesterday... wit this new desk job i snack all day! I had 2 bowls of cereal, some trail mix, a salad, 2 slices of pizza, watermelon, pop sickle! Alot! & idk y she wouldnt want to shes like my favorite nurse! Little hussey!
