  • @mummylady83, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet baby Benji. My son only has 1 kidney but it functions normally. I also have diabetes (type 1) but I was in pretty good control when I got pregnant with him. My son was also born with a CHD (congenital heart defect) that required open heart surgery at 8 months old, a club foot (which was surgically corrected although the one foot will never be normal), an extra 1/2 of a vertabrae (which is causing moderate scoliosis), and some eye issues. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus at 10 months old which we don't think he was born with but was due to his traumatic birth. He has some moderate developmental delays. He is the happiest, sweetest, most friendly and curious little boy I have ever known. He is 6 1/2 now and while he will never really be able to play alot of sports because of the single kidney he is doing really well health wise.

My daughter was born very healthy and has never had any of the same issues our son has. The baby boy I am pregnant with now also has none of the same issues and trust me they have looked at him in depth in many ultrasounds.

Are you taking insulin to control your diabetes? Has your endocrinologist talked to you or have you ever thought about using an insulin pump to try to control your diabetes better? I have been pumping since I was pregnant with my daughter 5 1/2 years ago and I love it! It makes my life alot easier and makes my diabetes alot easier to control. Best of luck to you!
  • I'm glad you got your answers and that everything that happened can be prevented in the future I'm surely sorry that you had to lose benjamin to find out those answers though. Great wishes to bringing in the new year with news of a new baby to come. Just make sure you say goodnight to little benjamin every night because now he can watch over you and protect you and help you conquer your sadness and troubles hugs mama
  • @mummtlady83, he only had one kidney? Thats why your fluid was low so you never had a hole in your sac. We decided to not have an otopsy done because I knew he was infected and would not lived outside of me for very long. I can try in oct. I just have to wait 6 months before std will kick in avain for a new claim.
  • I just wanted to say that I know the feeling of loss and although knowing what was wrong doesn't make it hurt any less it can only help you now. My doctor told me before we got our results on our son that the results aren't going to change what happened to him but they will ensure the best chance for healthy happy siblings for him. Just have faith and your little boy will help bring you another little one that he will help watch over. If you need anything or just want to talk im here!
  • @one5one @juliek77 I've been diabetic since june 2008 and since dec 2008 I'd been telling the drs that the medication they had me on wasn't working.. Oct 2010 they finally refered me to a specialist, who I saw in Dec 2010 and agreed to try 1 further type of meds and if they didn't work they'd put me on insulin. The meds didn't work and feb 3rd 2011 I started my new insulin regime, 5 days after finding out I was pregnant with Benjamin. By the time my HBA1C was in the "correct" range it was the end of March, by which time the damage had already been done to Benjamin's forming body. x

@mrsrocketfield1221 I will do that, it sounds like something I can work to to help me heal. Thank you x

@Junebuggbabie85 I do, every night. We post a poem on facebook and also pray and say goodnight to our Angel. MJ does too x

@tbaby2011 Thats exactly how we feel. Knowing the results has put a part of my mind at ease and also knowing the sooner I do the things I need to do to have another rainbow baby gives me a focus x

@jodi102011 it was a problem because of my meds x

Thank you all. I know I keep saying it, but its because I can't thank you enough xx
  • Oh I'm sorry to hear that! Hows the diabetes now? Still on insulin? I'm really hoping things get better for you so you can ttc again when you're ready! %%-
