Cried at my Dr appointment today

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
I have gained 15 pounds and im only 18 weeks and four days. I work out 6 days a week. Run 2.5 miles a day and eat healthy... where the hell is all this weight coming from... my doctor can't even see it... and I can still fit in my pre preggo pants... so frustrated ... any suggestions?

  • Just relax and enjoy being pregnant! I'm 18 weeks and have gained about the same and have only been exercising a littleand mostly what I want. Everyone is different and alot of that is baby/amniotic fluid and all that! If you breast feed chances are it will come off just as fast! Go by how you feel. Do you feel healthy? If yes don't worry about numbers on a scale! Good luck! P.s. my friend who gave birth a few weeks ago lost 20lbs a week after giving birth!
  • If your doctor isn't concerned and you're not putting the weight on anywhere but where the baby is (belly and hips), don't get upset and don't try and stop yourself from gaining. If your body is actually getting fat (and you'll know if it is bc you'll gain in your face and arms) that's a problem. If not, then your baby is getting what it needs and that is all that matters. Bear in mind that your boobs are growing, you've got a baby and a giant water balloon in your belly, and your blood volume has increased by half. Not to mention the fact that you're retaining water elsewhere. Just calm down. Your gaining will slow down in your final trimester, and if you are as dedicated to exercise and healthy eating as you seem to be you'll have no problem losing whatever weight you gain.
  • i gained a ton of weight with my second, and the week after i had her i had lost 25lbs! guess most of it was baby and water weight!? crazy how our bodies react differently to different pregnancies. i lost 14lbs at the beginning of this pregnancy and have only gained 6 back...! don't worry about the scale, just keep doing what you are doing and enjoy your pregnancy! it will all be worth it :)
  • Thank you ladies for the words of encouragment. You have lift my spirits and made me realize that my body is going to do what it needs to to support my baby. I feel great and healthy!
