So I took my daughter to the pediatrician today and while we were there the doctor gave me a bunch of the pre mixed formula because I am supplementing with formula and she wanted my daughter on this certain kind. So I have given my daughter 4 oz total for the day and when I was unpacking the rest of the formula I realized that the 2 2oz bottles she has had today were outdated as of 07/01/11. I know its my fault and I should have checked the dates but I can't help but be completely pist that her doctor just gave me expired formula that I fed my princess. I don't know what to do or if it can hurt her in any way. I'm terrified and don't know what to do. Help please.

You're most likely fine! Keep an eye on her and don't give her anymore. Id also call and let your dr know, they need to pay attention to that kinda stuff.

That's awful it's not your fault at all I would never to think to check the experation on something a doctor gave me :-( you think a pediatrician would keep track of things like that! I'm not sure how bad expired formula is I would look it up and probably call the doctor especially if she starts seeming sick, I'm sorry mamma good luck!

there were only 2 that were expired and of course those were the first 2 I gave her. I don't even know why I thought to check after the fact.... I'm so aggravated

@maranda3 thank you! And if I may ask how do you know this? Is it suppose to be common knowledge? I don't want to question you when your trying to help but I can't find anything on it and I can't even sleep I'm so worried.

The "experation" date is the last day stores can legally sell it its still good up to a yr after. I know you got it from the dr but companies still have to put it on there.

No problem!! I used to work in the L&D/nursery at my hospital. When our formula reached the date we donated it to the women & childrens shelter for use because we aren't allowed to keep it in the hospital afterwards and it was still good for use up to a year.

@maranda3 thank you so much! I felt bad for questioning you but I just want to be sure I didn't need to take her to get it pumped out or anything lol I was just thinking like cows milk.... when it expires it expires your not going to drink it 2months later. Lol thanks again!
