  • I use baby powder unless they have a diaper rash.. then I use Dr. Smiths diaper rash ointment...
  • I only use desitan when my lil guy has a diaper rash. I use powder at night to help keep him dry longer and avoid getting diaper rash :)
  • I like baby aqaphor. No smell, no color, no sticky mess. Prevents and clears up diaper rash quick. I even use it to clear up dry patches anywhere on his body. I bought a big tub of it at Target for $15 2 years ago and I still have a fair amount left.
  • ...I've heard powder is not so great for baby to breath. Tiny particles stay in lungs :-(
  • I used baby powder with every change and diaper rash cream if he had a rash or looked like he was getting one.
  • @brendalou your not putting powder near the face...just their bottom.
  • butt paste for rashes and corn starch to help keep her dry
  • @ brendalou I've read many articles lately saying the same thing! They also say baby powder has not been medically proven to treat or prevent diper rash.
  • Baby powder helps promote asthma from floating power particulates. . . If you can smell it your breathing in the powder
  • If it's for a boy powder is good, bad for a girl it can cause uti's. Desitin or even a&d ointment is really good. My dr said do not use powder for a little girl ever.
  • I use buttpaste and aquaphor
  • My hospital said no powder. I only use desitin if her bottom looks irritated.
  • Your not suppose to use baby powder... the have a lot more info on it then they use to and are now saying its not good at all. The hospital discharge papers I got even had it on the. And if my kids ever hand diaper rash I always used vasoline its amazing!

  • Powder is a major no-no. We don't even have powder in the nicu because it's terrible for their lungs.
  • I've heard from previous mommy friends that powder is a no-go snce it could get into the baby's lungs. I think when ur baby is much older it's OK to pad a little powder on their tush. To keep from getting diaper rash, u could always give your baby "butt time" a few times a day (maybe for a few min) after u wipe them & give them Desitin. This will allow their skin to breathe a little before slapping on a new diaper right away!
  • I use vasoline for rashes... way better than any diaper rash cream #thanksgrandma! Lol :-) but if I do use powder its really rare like after pooping sometimes or at night so they wont b so wet.. but always da pure cornstarch kind
  • But I have never used powder on a new born.. hell my hospital wouldn't even let me use wipes.. I had to use a towel.. lol
  • Not to steal ur post but does anyone know of a cream called chipper?
  • I'm not using anything:/
  • Of course I wouldn't sprinkle powder near baby's face, that would be silly. However like @beadedbunny states "if you can smell it you're breathing in the powder".
  • Thanks ladies!
  • I plan on both...
