Questions about the drug used to stop contractions
Last night I went to the hospital because I was having contractions. I am exactly 39 weeks but scheduled to have a repeat csection on Tuesday morning. Anyways, I was there for about 3 hours and having regular contractions, but not dilating. So the nurse came in and gave me an injection of terabutline or however you spell it. I had the absolute worst reaction! I started trembling, had the chills and was having bad heart palpitations. I complained to the nurse and she said I was having an anxiety attack!!! Ugh, I've never had one in my life!!!! I was sent home because it helped to stop the contractions. I came home and googled the drug and saw I had a textbook adverse reaction to it. I also read that its very controversal and can cause autism. I'm so scarded now because my husband has 2 little brothers that are autistic. I'm also pissed that the nurse didn't disclose the risks of the drug before giving it to me. I have been so careful about not exposing my unborn daughter to anything and now this has happened. Anyone have any further info or know if it can have any effects on her so late in the pregnancy?
