Cost of circumcision?

edited September 2011 in Pregnant
I want my son to be circumcised and I have medicaid so it's not covered. Earlier in my pregnancy I was told it cost $300 but someone recently told me they were told it would cost $700-900 that seems outrageous though! Anyone know how much it really costs?

  • Ask the hospital your delivering at. I think it would be different from place to place.
  • It was $250 for my 1st son, it'll be $350 this time. I'm delivering at a different hospital this time.

    $300 sounds about right!
  • Really? Medicaid covered my sons circumcision but im in illinois.
  • @steph_due_101611 I think they changed it recently, or just because the state you're in. I'm in utah and they won't do it because it's not necessary
  • I know sometimes things vary from state to state. Illinois medicaid covers it.
  • 300 is right. My insurance doesn't cover it and it's 300. But you don't have to pay it all at once, I don't think so.
  • Indiana medicaid covers it also.
  • It was 300 for my first son and my insurance at the time didn't cover it...im on military insurance tricare now and im hoping its covered!
  • Texas Medicaid covers it.
  • Depends on your insurance im pretty sure. My hospital charges $300. But my insurance covers it.
  • @kelseyjo We are on tricare and I believe its covered...
  • I stay n new orleans and Medicaid stop paying for it right before I had my first child and that was n 2007 but the cost of it down here is $150 I have to pay that again uugghh Medicaid starting to suck lol
  • @lilbit01_209 thanks! Thats one less thing I have to worry about
  • im in utah and had to pay 250 for my 2 boys. Last one was 2 yrs ago so not sure if it went up sense then.
  • At my hospital its about 350 but they have something called a sliding scale chart an they give you a discount, look into that if your single it dosnt count bds income an also you dont have to show pay stubs so you can kind lie if you wana lol so based on my income im paying 91
