hmmm. go to l&d? 36.4 weeks. dizzy, swollen, painful to see

edited October 2011 in Health
First off 36.4 weeks along. Baby hasn't dropped. No contractions.
I've been sooooo swollen all week non-stop. My feet hurt so bad and are purple. My hands hurt rly bad also.my ankle and shins are swollen. Yesterday I woke up and my eyes hurt rly bad. At first I didn't think much of my eyes hurting, just thought maybe it was sinus or something. But then after talking to friends they asked if I had been checked for preclamsia lately.
I mentioned ti my brothers gf who is in nursing school how my bp was a lil high last time. It was 127/90 the 2nd time. Heart rate of 108(first one was high too, but I didn't take a pic so I forget what it was) the third one was 125/89 heart rate of 107. The doc wasn't worried since I was out of the 90's. In late July it was 119/74 with hb of 97. So its not usually high.

I'm wondering if I should go to l&d or just wait and go to the same day clinic?

Also I'm not dehydrated. I literary drink at least 8-10 bottles of water a day. I crave cold water. I have elevated my feet, and even used frozen gel packs to try to takr the swelling down. Doesn't work..

I've talked to my midwife in the past and she said 'oh that's not bad, come to me when they are tree trunks' no joke...

Ugh I hate army doctors!!

  • I say go. I was on bedrest for 2 weeks due to borderline pre-e. I had high BP but doc also said to go in or atleast call if I started feeling dizzy, headache, blurred vision, hurting eyes, extreme swelling. Hope everything is okay.
  • I wouldn't say your blood pressure was bad, mines 125/93 (its usually about 118/65) and my hr is 113 and there not to worried about it. I went into hospital last week as I was all swollen, could see light spots an swirls, I was having bad headaches, was throwing up and felt really dizzy. I got there they done my bp which was 158/97 so really high and I had a trace of protein in my urine. So they kept me in but no pre-eclamsiar or anything (did come across another problem but nothing to do with the symptoms I'd been having). I'm still throwing up though and get headaches but just keep getting told its a pregnancy thing (which I didn't get in my last pregnancy).
But I would go in or atleast phone your mw just to make sure :)
    Hope everything is ok
  • I would get checked... Better safe than sorry when if comes to the health of you and bubs
  • I never had high blood pressure and I went into l&d with severe pain only to deliver that day due to severe pre e. Go get checked. I had all the same symptoms as u are describing. Better to be safe
  • I would go. I was so swollen I was on bed rest at the end of pregnancy ...the skin on my ankles was tearing..I have stretch marks on them!! They ended up taking mu son a week early by csection because he wasn't in position and hadn't dropped at all and I was borderline pre eclapsia...good luck mama

  • Definitely go, with the symptoms you have its better to be safe than sorry. Pre-eclampsia can be very serious! Good luck hun
  • I have similar symptoms, gettin blood pressure etc done just least twice a week so defo get bp checked to be sure x
  • @everyone. Sorry to hard to copy everyones name from my phone.

This morning I woke up and my eyes were fine. And swelling was AS bad. But now as the day has progressed my feeties hurt so bad. Are rly red and sting like they are burnt from scolding hot water.

I called the nurse hotline and she suggested I go to er since I'm also having some cramps.

I'm going to go in about an hr after someone comes and buys a shelf. Lol.
  • Buys a shelf?! What a random thing to be waiting for!
I hope it all goes well at the hospital hun (*)
  • Lmao @littlenat86 We're moving and selling stuff on fb groups and craigslistshe didn't show up til waaaaay late! Then took forever at uhaul to return the dolly I rented. At triage waiting for a bed. Guess lots of ladies here.

My feeties burn. Picture yourself jumping into a hot ass hottub/spa ya its like thag from my shins to my piggies.. :(

Babies moving just fine. That's why I didn't rush to come in btw. I mainly came to comfort my mom. We're taking a 20 hr doad trip Wednesday morning.
  • That car trip is not going to help with the swelling hun. And also my Dr told me ( and I heard it on here too) not to travel past 34 weeks..... I hope all goes well for You at the hospital and they can give u an answer and ease your pain.
  • How did it go hun?
  • @littlenat86 made the trip just fine thanks :) baby finally dropped last Sunday. Making the trip back to tx the 3rd. Really hoping I don't have him in some random state. Lol. Family wants me to stay but that's still a no go. I have to follow my husband. And he cant stay.
In just started having braxton hicks contractions so not to worried. Still haven't lost my plug, but googled it and some ladies don't loose it til labor starts. I feel fine. Just sore and tired. I am betting I'll go over my due date. Which is fine just as long as baby comes before my husband deploys.

ohhh and the hospital trip was a dud. They wouldn't check me. And said my swollen feet is totally normal and to be expected. Pft w/e!! I feel as if they are bruised/broken all over. Hurts to bend toes and ankles. Getting a pedi tomorrow. Hopefully it won't hurt to bad. The doc said my pee showed no sign of preclapsia. And since the dizziness subsided he didn't care.
