"Make sure you take the drugs!"

So I'm starting to get really sick of people telling me " make sure u take any drugs they offer!!!!" As a ftm I kno everyone is trying to help when they tell me this about labor, but it just pisses me off. No, I don't want to! I honestly feel like as long as someone is there to listen to me vent about the pain I'm in, I won't need an epidural. Lol seriously though why does everyone think its SOOOOOO hard to have an unmedicated birth...I mean, they did it years ago just fine, right? Ughhh

  • I wish I could think like u im to weak I need the epi cant handle pain lol gd luck though when u due
  • I know what u mean! I am going to have an epidural...I know my body and I wont be able to handle the pain. But everyone has to comment saying like I'm a bad mom cause I'm going to be "druging" my baby...Smh...people always have to be negative no matter which way you choose to go. I just tell them its my body n my baby I can do what I want! When they have babies they can choose how they wanna do it! Ugh....
  • Im planning on a water birth with nothing but the gas (: im a 16yr old ftm.
  • Ppl do me the same way. When I tell them im going all natural they automatically say "you say that now but wait til the time comes". Im like well damn thanks for the support!

I didnt do an epi.. I did take pain meds though. I DID NOT want the epi no matter how bad it got. The only reason I had to have it was for the c section part. Stick to your guns hon. Dont let anyone make you do something you dont want to :)
  • @roxy in 14 days!

@brttnywsnt14 yeah I know! I kno how I think n handle things. My sister n one of my friends had c-sections so they keep telling me to tell Dr I want one, when I don't n my mom had 5 kids, 4 of them with no meds and my brother was 10lbs and I was born at home!!!! then another friend says take the epi, but shees a big baby when it comes to pain. sooooooo I'm gonna do what I can. What the worst that can happen? I have to deal with pain? Oh well ill get over it lol. Pain is pain, I'm not gonna die from it! Lol
  • Agreed with @brttnywtsn14 , I decided that I'm gonna go as long as I can with out meds mostly bc I hate needles, but my hubby says I'm gonna give in to drugs bc I can't even handle cramps... :( I figure I'm gonna do whatever it takes to get my baby here safely.
  • @mimii36 hahah I hate when they say that! I've been hearing it from everyonee its driving me nuts
  • @becca ur around the corner have u got any contrations latly
  • @roxy yes off and on for the last two days but nothing too painful and nothing too close. I'll get about 5 that are 5 -6 mins apart, then ill go a half hour/hour without any. I had an appt Monday and I'm only 1cm dilated and 60% effaced. Hopefully at my next appt ill be almost ready, I don't want to go over!

I had epidurals but I never tell people "make sure u ask for drugs"...i don't like when people tell me what to do so I don't tell people what to do. What does bother me is when people tell me that I shouldn't get the epidural because it does this or that when they don't even know what they are talking about
  • I had my son with a 17 hour labour and only had gas for about 2 hours. Its not that bad. I think its sad so many women automatically choose an epi before really trying naturally. I dont have anything against the epi and if I felt I truly couldn't cope I would consider it. I just always felt that I made the decision to put babies in my belly so its up to me to get them out... Im 40+3 and hoping for another natural unassisted birth :-)
  • @myheartzx3 yeah people saying an epidural is wrong, sounds dumb. I'm not against it at all, I just don't feel ill need it. And ur right I'd never TELL anyone to do something cuz I also hate being told what to do.
  • @tinka1326 I feel the same way! And eek! Id hate to go over, and after watching this movie called the business of being born I got freaked out about being induced lol
  • @becca have u told ur dr. u dnt want to go over I mean the only option well b induce i believe if baby dnt cum on hes own. I told my dr. but he wants me to at least go over two days dnt think my son is ready so I believe were gona make him ready
  • If you can do it more power to ya!! I knew I wouldn't be able to I have a really really low pain tolerance. I would never tell someone to get the epi just because I'm for it.
  • @Becca & @teeniemommy seriously! We all know what are bodies can handle and I'm pretty sure none of us would intentionally hurt our baby just so we don't feel pain....it drives me crazy when people make it seem like I'm wrong! I give all the props in the world to women who give birth naturally, I wish I could...but I also know my body and I'm weak :/ I cried the first time I had to get an IV! Lol I've never had stitches or broken a bone or anything like that! I'm a big woose lol
  • @roxy yeah he said the most they'll make me wait is 3 days over and at my next appt I'm gonna ask about a sweep
  • Yeah being overdue sucks, went 5 days over with my son too. I would rather wait as long as possible and hope I go into labour on my own rather than be induced. Im already a loose 3cm and at station -3 so hopefully not much longer.
  • @brttnywstn14 Awww lol yeah I'm scared of needles but when I had surgeries and pains and a fractured arm I never needed any meds so I'm hoping to be able to handle the pain to where its too late to get an epidural lol
  • @brttnywtsn14 I cry when it comes to needles and ivs but I just wanna go as long as I can without the epi needle lol
  • @Becca good for you!! I wish u all the luck!

@teeniemommy yea I wanna try to wait till I'm atleast a 5-6cm to get the epi if I can go that long ill be happy :)
  • Everyone told me the same thing but I had a 30hr labor and didn't have the epidural. So you can do it too.
  • I knew I didn't want an epidural. I did it with gas an air and pethidine!
  • I admire those who do it with out but I'm a sissy lol I'm gunna try to go ad far as I can then get it and wear it down when its time to push %%-

I was iduced and went realy fast so contrations were the most painfull thing iv ever felt, they hurt more than pushing her head out. I dident want to have any pain meds, and people said the same to me "you say that now but wait untill its time" I had a natural planed my hole pregnancy, but gave in and got nubaine and an eip was forced upon me. Neither of the damn things worked for even a second! So I got what I wanted inspite of getting pain meds lol. You know your body better than anyone else, don't let people bring u down! :)
  • I was not allowed an epi due to prior medical conditions. Just breath through the contractions and hope you get a supportive nurse that will teach you pain coping positions and hope your partner can stay focused to help. I wish I had a doula for mine. After close to 48 hours I ended up with a c section but still think migraines are worse.
  • Thanks everyonee ! It's good to hear positive feed back instead of " you REALLY think you can do it?" Or " i 100% recommend the epidural" ughhh lol
  • You are a strong women for planning a natural birth.. I tried but I couldn't do it.. me and pain don't get along, but even if I got an epidural.. pressure pains are really bad lol . Well I wish you the best of luck and the strength to do it :x
  • i myself plan on haveing a natural labor but if im induced again i dont know if i can.. i will of course try.. with my first son they gave me demerol for the pain and he was born realy tired .. and needed a lil oxygen to get started.. so im not into those IV drugs.. but i would def do the epidural again.. but thats it.. its your decision and dont feel like you have to do it any way but your own girl.. cause with my second the nurses kept pushing fentinol on me.. and i was like no no no.. i swear i had to tell the same nurse at least three times. im like i will wait for my epidural.. im not taking any sleeping meds! or narcotics.. so quite freaking asking..
