I'm not sure, but my Dr told me as long as poop isn't green and frothy that there is no imbalance (the frothy indicating gettin.g too much foremilk and not at boob ling enough). Hopefully that helps a little
  • Oh ok. His poop is yellow and seedy looking. I think that's good.
  • You can see it fore milk looks like cloudy water and it gushes out (to calm baby's thirst) take the baby off the breast after 5-8 minutes and squeeze some milk and you will see that it looks more like heavy cream.

also make sure baby stays long enough on one breast, in order for baby to get the hind milk. Before switching to the other breast.
  • Apx how long does it take for hind milk to come in. @Cynthiay
  • In my case, around 5 minutes (fore milk) so I let her nurse for another 5-8 minutes(to get the hind milk). Sometimes she will nurse and then fall asleep or get full too soon, so I stop, burp her or change her diaper and then let her nurse again on the same breast.
  • Ok I do the same thing. Wanted to make sure he is getting everything. @CynthiaY. How do I get him to completely empty my breasts? It seems like he doesn't eat long enough
  • Do try taking a break (burping, diaper change or just hanging out) for like 10 minutes and then offering the same breast again. And then do the other breast at the next feeding (a few hours later)
  • Ok thank you. :)

  • exactly what @ashleyfew said :) this is my same rule as well esp in the beginning when milk came in and i was engorged
  • He will eat for like an hour. Sometimes I switch boobs just because the other one is tired and starting to get sore. The only time he eats for only a couple minutes is 2 am. Maybe 10 minutes and he is out and won't wake up but he will get up an hour or 2 later. And then he wants to eat for an hour +. Idk if its cluster feeding but its been like this for about 2 weeks now. He is 3 weeks old. I wanted to make sure he is getting hind milk because I heard it keeps em fuller longer but it doesn't seem to work with him lol. @ashleyfew and @bahamamama4828. Also what do you guys know about dream feeding and is it ok to do and if so how do I do it?

  • Whats your secret lol. I can't wait till he is sleeping through. How does dream feeding work? I just heard it makes them sleep longer and I wanna try it.
