birth certificate

I don't know if its different from state to state. On ur babys birth certificate is the mother and fathers signuture both on it? Or does only one sign it. Because on mine I only signed but both of our information is printed on the birth certificate but for some reason baby daddy is thinking he shoulda signed and this fool is thinking I'm out to get him or something. So I was just wondering.. because I'm not out to get him at all I just did as the lady who asked the birth certificate questions said to do I do remeber they had him sign paper work an he signed that while I was sleeping one day so idk if that was about the birth certificate.. or what. But only my signature is on the birth certificate they sent in the mail.. teaches him to read what the hell he signs I guess!

    This just happened to us!!! His father's name isn't on it bc he didn't sign, all his info was there though, so we had to fill out a paper, get it notorized, and send it away. It takes another month after that to get the birth certificate. He is in GA and I'm in PA. Our son was born in GA though and he went to pick it up and they told him he wasn't on it. Our son also has my last name now by default so that will be another set of paper work :(

    Holy shit what! @stbmilitarybrat who do I call to see if its right? My son has his dad's last name on the birth certificate and everything else. How did you guys find out it was wrong? Was ur bd there for the birth and all that?

    How did you guys decide to go with the,bd last name cause I'm still up I the air on that on I just don't know what would be best no matter what.

    It was just my prefrence(sp) since day one. I mean it is his son plus he is named the same as his dad. He is a JR so it seemed only right have daddys last name. @jules

    Yeah my son was supposed to have his dad's last name too. I delievered in GA and yup, he was there for the whole thing! He went to the Department of Vital Records to pick it up so he could enroll our son on his insurance and when he gave them his name they said they had noone by that name. So he gave them my name and they had it but since he didn't sign they wouldn't give him the birth certificate bc his name isn't on it. He got in a huge fight with the people and of course called me flippin but I just explained to him that I honestly didn't know that would happen... There should be a number on the paper they gave you about the birth certificate that you can call but I'm not sure if they can tell you before it comes in :/

    @jules It didn't really matter to me and since it is tradition to take the father's last name that was what we decided on. Our son also has an important family name from my side so with his father's last name he had an important name from his side. I might keep it as my last name now though since we broke up (I also thought his last name would be mine soon as well) and my family name will end with me unless my son carries it on... I still haven't decided!

    I see I just know things are great now and we are happy together but u never know how things can change and he wants to get married but like I said u never know what can happen with time and I want the best situation for me and my little girl to come :) soon hopefully ... I'm sure u know how I feel since u guys are no longer together @stbmilitarybrat

    Yeah im sure he signed that because they had said something about that...they send seprate birth certificates to the mother and father? @mama2be11_4_11

    @jules Yeah, I thought we were gonna get married for sure.... I left 8 days after our son was born lol oh well!

    @Alwayzbeenurz2008 Ours was not sent, we had to go pick it up so make sure you check about yours!

    Well u have to do whats right for you and the baby I mean sometimes I wanna leave as well trust me... @2beforgotten your a help cause I would do that for sure if that was how it worked around here that way its not all personal ..

    @jules my daughters father and I are no longer together. I had all intentions of giving her his last name but when the time came I just couldn't so she has both of our last names I just hyphenated it. She is gonna hate me when she goes to school and has to write it out!

    i had my first son in TN and im the only signature on his BC even though his dad signed stuff too and im not sure about oregon where i live now, i just ordered my other kids BC but on my own BC my mom is the only signature even though she was married to my dad at the time

    I'm in cali since I'm married my hubbys name gets put on it automatically. There is no signature tho just his name. My hospital had me fill out everything when I had my son. and in 6 weeks i paid 19 bux n picked it up......
